Ash-Shams Verses 0 - 7

The soul is one of the great signs of Allah that deserves to be sworn by, for the soul is extremely subtle and light; it moves about easily, changes easily, and is influenced easily, subject to emotions such as desiring, wanting, aiming, loving and hating. Without the soul, a body would be a mere image, with nothing good in it. The fact that it is created in such a manner is one of the great signs of Allah. Al-Saadi: 926.
Question: Allah swears by His great creation. What is so great about the soul?

Ash-Shams Verses 0 - 8

Muhammad bin Ka'b said: If Allah is pleased with a servant, He will inspire him to do righteous deeds, and if He is displeased with a servant, He will inspire him to do evil deeds. Al-Qurtubi: 22/312.
Question: What is the sign of Allah's pleasure or displeasure with His servant?

Ash-Shams Verses 9 - 10

Meaning: Whoever raises himself to higher standards through gaining good knowledge and doing righteous deeds, wins every reward and is saved from every harm. And the true loser is the one who puts his soul down and hides it in wickedness through ignorance and rebellion. Al-Alusi: 15/361.
Question: How does the human soul succeed?

Ash-Shams Verses 0 - 14

Meaning: The most wretched among them hamstrung her, but the action is attributed to all of them because they were content with what he did. Al-Qurtubi: 22/412.
Question: The hamstringing was carried out by one person, but it is attributed to all of them. Why?

Al-Lail Verses 0 - 3

Here, Allah swears by Himself as the Creator of males and females. As dictated by His wisdom, He created every type of animal that He wanted to survive as male and female, so that the species may survive and not disappear, and he led each of them to the other by means of desire, making each of them suited to the other. Al-Saadi: 927.
Question: What is Allah's wisdom in creating male and female of everything?

Al-Lail Verses 5 - 7

Meaning: We will make him take the easy path, which is doing the good and refraining from evil. The opposite of that is making him take the hard path. This is supported by the Prophetic Hadith: "Strive, for it will be made easy for each person to do that for which he was created." Meaning: Allah will make smooth for him the path that was decreed for him, and ease him toward doing good or doing evil. Ibn Juzay: 2/589.
Question: In light of this verse, explain the Prophet's Hadith: "Strive, for it will be made easy for each person to do that for which he was created."

Al-Lail Verses 5 - 7

Some of the righteous predecessors said: A reward for a good deed is making another good deed afterward, and a recompense for an evil deed is making another evil deed afterward. Ibn Kathir: 4/520.
Question: In light of these verses, explain the statement mentioned above.
