Perhaps the benefit of saying that to them -since you are the people of true knowledge- is establishing further proof against them, just as Allah referred to the testimony of the people of knowledge as proof against those who are stubborn. Al-Saadi: 134.
Question: What is the benefit in calling people of the Scripture to come to a word that is equitable?
Tawhīd (Oneness of Allah), although it is the origin of righteousness, is the greatest justice.
Ibn Taimyah: 2/80.
Question: Tawhīd is the greatest justice. Explain.
This verse refutes the Shiat's claim that one must accept Imam's words without legal clarification, and that he makes lawful what Allah has made unlawful without proof from Sharia for doing that. Al-Qurtubi: 5/162.
Question: In the light of this verse, how do you respond to the Shi'ites?
This verse proves that it is prohibited for one to argue about religious issues of which he has no knowledge and lacks the ability to verify his information. Al-Qurtubi: 5/165.
Question: Who has the right to debate and discuss religious issues?
These verses also encourage learning history, for it is a way to refute many false arguments and claims that are contrary to historical facts. Al-Saadi: 134.
Question: What is the importance of learning history for a student of religious studies?
It was said that the meaning of their misleading themselves is their insistence on misguidance due to what their souls have encouraged them to do despite their ability to follow guidance through clear arguments. Al-Alusi: 3/199.
Question: How does a person mislead himself?
It is well known whoever wishes for something, will strive to achieve his goal. This faction strives and exert all its effort to turn away the believers by casting doubts on their faith in every way they can. Al-Saadi: 134.
Question: What do the People of the Scripture wish for Muslims?
