The Arabic word for (graciously) is in indefinite form to indicate that they should be satisfied with what is feasible, which is dealing with people in fairness, dealing with oneself in denial, and dealing with the truth by acceptance. Al-Biqai: 20/161.

Gracious settlement implies that common tradition is relevant in this case, and it is a plain caution against harming either parent through his/her child. Moreover, all matters should be settled, after separation, through mutual understanding, and that includes breastfeeding and other matters. The settling of all matters should be based on graciousness, tolerance, and kindness for the sake of old times, and do not forget graciousness between you. Al-Shanqiti: 8/216.

He who sows thrones will not harvest roses. Whoever neglected his duty toward Allah, will not have his rights protected, and whoever is burned by disobeying Allah, let him bear the harshness of His punishment. Al-Biqai: 20/167.

At-Talaq Verses 8 - 9

Meaning: We took its inhabitants to sever account. It is said that it means that will be the reckoning and punishment in the Hereafter. It is, also, said that it was in this life, which is more probable, because the punishment in the Hereafter is mentioned after that in saying: (Allah has prepared for them a severe punishment), or because the verbs (We took it) and (and punished it) are in the past tense, which means: We took them to account for their sins and none of their minor sins was forgiven. (Punishment) was their recompense in this worldly life, and (terrible) with an unprecedented intensity. Ibn Juzay: 2/459.
Question: When does punishing disobedient cities occur?

(His command descends among them): Those who work with semantics said: His wonderous disposition of the affairs in heavens and earth.
