Al-Mumtahanah Verses 0 - 12

Disobeying the Messenger (ﷺ) can only be in what is right because he never enjoins evil, but it is said that this is a proof that obeying those in authority is obligatory only in what is right. Ibn Taimyah: 6/295.
Question: The Prophet (ﷺ) never enjoins evil, so why the verse limits the prohibition of disobeying him to what is right?

Al-Mumtahanah Verses 0 - 12

Meaning: They will not disobey you in any right that you enjoin upon them, and in any wrong that you forbid them. Limiting the prohibition of disobeying him to what is right, even though the Messenger (ﷺ) does not enjoin except what is right, is to alert to the fundamental principle: There is no obedience to any created being if it involves disobedience to the Creator. Al-Alusi: 14/274.
Question: Limiting the prohibition of disobeying him to what is right, even though the Messenger (ﷺ) does not enjoin except what is right. Why?

As-Saff Verses 0 - 2

Al-Nakhai said: Three verses in the Quran prevented me from narrating to people: (Do you enjoin righteousness upon people while you forget yourselves) [2:44], (And I do not want to go against what I am forbidding you) [11:88], and (O you who believe, why do you say what you do not do). Al-Qurtubi: 20/436.
Question: The righteous predecessors feared this verse immensely. Explain.

As-Saff Verses 0 - 2

The one who enjoins good should be the first one to hasten to do it, and the one who forbids evil should be the furthest removed of all people from it. Al-Saadi: 858.
Question: What is the lesson learned by the believing preacher from this verse?

As-Saff Verses 0 - 4

Their rows should be organized in an orderly fashion, so that they stand side-by-side and shoulder to shoulder, striking dread into the hearts of the enemy, and offering encouragement to one another. Al-Saadi: 858.
Question: What is the wisdom behind standing in firm ranks as a solid structure for battle?

As-Saff Verses 0 - 4

Qatadah said: Do you not see how a builder does not like his building to be crooked? Similarly, Allah does not like His command to be changed. He lined up the believers on the battlefield and in their prayers, so adhere to His command, as it is a protection for those who do. Ibn Kathir: 4/359.
Question: Allah commands the believers to line up in an orderly fashion in two cases. What are they?

As-Saff Verses 0 - 5

This verse shows us that if Allah allows His servants to go astray, this is not injustice on His part, and they cannot use that as an argument against Him. Rather, it is their own fault, for they are the ones who closed the door of guidance to themselves after they came to know of it, hence, Allah requites them after that by causing them to go astray and deviate, which they have no way to ward off. Al-Saadi: 859.
Question: This verse responds to those who claim that their misguidance is caused by fate. Explain.
