Al-Hadid Verses 0 - 12

Abdulla bin Masoud (t) said: "They will be given light commensurate with their deeds. Some will be given their light as high as a palm tree, for others, it will be as high as a standing person, and the least light given will be as little as the tip of a person’s thumb where it comes on and goes out repeatedly." Al-Baghawi: 4/324.
Question: On the Day of Resurrection, will the light of the believers vary? On what basis?

This will become the biggest regret and affliction, when one is shown the way to safety and salvation until he believes he is saved and sees the dwellings of those who are destined for bliss, he is cut off from them and overcome with misfortune. We seek refuge with Allah from His wrath and punishment. Ibn Al-Qayim: 3/129.

The believers will state four basis for the hypocrites' loss, which are: Leading themselves into temptation, awaiting misfortune for the believers, doubting the truthfulness of the Messenger (ﷺ), and deluding themselves with false hopes. Ibn Ashur: 27/385.
Question: List the four reasons for loss that are stated in this verse.

Al-Hadid Verses 0 - 16

(Should be humbled), this means to be in a higher stage of faith, where their hearts soften, calm down, submit, become humiliated and reassured, and turn away from perishable life and seek the eternal one. (At the remembrance of Allah), The Greatest King whose good is the only good, so those who doubt become believers, and those who are weak in faith grow stronger. Hence, the remembrance of Allah (the Quran), becomes remedy for the faith and cure for the sickness of the heart, as Allah's remembrance clears the taints of the hearts. Al-Biqai: 19/279.
Question: What is the best cure for the hardened heart?

Al-Hadid Verses 0 - 16

(Hardened), due to the passing of time. (Their hearts), became stiffened and bent to the point where they were not prone to obedience and goodness. Al-Qushayri said: Hardness of the heart results from pursuing desires, and clarity of the heart and following desires do not coexist. Al-Biqai: 19/280.
Question: What is the meaning of the hardening of the heart?

Al-Hadid Verses 0 - 16

(Their hearts hardened): Hardening is the beginning of all evil, and it results from one's long heedlessness of Allah. Al-Alusi: 14/181.
Question: What is the risk of the hardening of one's heart?

Al-Hadid Verses 0 - 17

This description likens the need of the believers' hearts for the remembrance of Allah to the dry land in need of rain, and the effect of the remembrance of Allah in purifying and enlightening the souls to that of the rain reviving the barren land. Ibn Ashur: 27/393.
Question: What is the benefit of being informed that Allah revives the earth after its death?
