Muhammad Verses 0 - 30

Allah is telling His Messenger (ﷺ): Had We willed, O Muhammad, We would have shown you the specific individuals who are hypocrites, so that you would plainly know them." However, Allah did not do that with all of the hypocrites. He conceals His creation, lets their affairs run according to apparent purity, and leaves the inner secrets to the One Who is well aware of them. Ibn Kathir: 4/183.
Question: Allah did not reveal the identity of all the hypocrites to the Muslims. Why?

Muhammad Verses 0 - 33

(And do not invalidate your deeds), this has four possible meanings, first: Do not invalidate your deeds by reverting to disbelief after your faith. Second: Do not invalidate your righteous deeds by doing bad ones. Third: Do not invalidate your deeds by showing off and self-admiration. Fourth: Do not invalidate your deeds by not completing them. Ibn Juzay: 2/343.
Question: State the things that can invalidate the deeds in light of this verse.

Muhammad Verses 0 - 35

(And Allah is with you), this contains glad tidings of victory and triumph over the enemies. Ibn Kathir: 4/184.
Question: What will be the outcome for Muslims for being with Allah?

Muhammad Verses 0 - 35

(Do not weaken), do not be weak concerning the enemies. (And call for peace), do not compromise, call for peace or an end to the fighting between you and the disbelievers while you are in a position of power, both in great numbers and preparations. Thus, Allah says, (So do not weaken and call for peace while you are superior), in the condition of your superiority over your enemy. If, on the other hand, the disbelievers are considered more powerful and numerous than the Muslims, then the Imam (general commander) may decide to hold a treaty if he judges that it entails a benefit for the Muslims. Ibn Kathir: 4/184.
Question: The verse indicates the Muslims' position, when they are more powerful, toward their enemy. What should be their position when they are weak?

Muhammad Verses 0 - 36

It is likely that this verse is a continuation of the one before, (do not weaken and call for peace) as a reminder that abiding by this is the desired piety. Moreover, the love for wealth that can be spent for war efforts may be the reason behind calling for peace. Hence, they are reminded of faith and righteousness so that they may rid themselves of weakness because they are prohibited from showing weakness and calling for peace. Refraining from all that is a sign of righteousness. Ibn Ashur: 26/133.
Question: Given this verse, what is the remedy for the weakness of Muslim Ummah?

Muhammad Verses 0 - 36

(He does not ask you), He is your Lord. (For your wealth), for giving you your rewards, rather, He orders you to believe and obey so that He rewards you with Paradise, similar to His saying, (I seek no provision from them) [51:57]. Moreover, it is said that this verse means that Allah and His Messenger do not ask you for all of your wealth to be spent for charity, rather, they only ask for a small amount -quarter of tithe- so let your heart delight in it. Al-Qurtubi: 4/163.
Question: A sign of truthfulness of a preacher is not asking others for money. How can you infer this meaning from this verse?

Muhammad Verses 0 - 38

(But whoever withholds, he in fact withholds against himself), the harm of withholding can only affect him. It is as if he withheld from himself the reward that is due to him for spending. (If you turn away, He will replace you with other people), He will bring others who are not like you, rather, they want to spend in Allah's way. Ibn Juzay: 2/344.
Question: The lesson learned from this verse: The requital befits the action. Explain.
