For Allah has power over all things and is able to never let the disbelievers be victorious over the Muslims in any place until the Muslims completely defeat them. (But [He ordered you to fight] to test some of you by means of others) so that Jihad will flourish and it will become clear who is sincere and who is lying; and so that some people will believe sincerely based on understanding and not merely following the group that has the upper hand, for such faith is very weak and can hardly survive trials and tests. Al-Saadi: 785.
Question: When the polytheists defeat the Muslims sometimes, it becomes a trial for the Muslims. What kind of trial is that?
(And set right their state), make the state of their consciousness inclined toward every good, far from every evil, safe from all fears, and firm in faith. When one is killed in the cause of Allah, Allah will care and protect his remaining family in a much better way than he would if was alive. Al-Biqai: 7/153.
Question: What is the meaning of: (And set right their state)?
Meaning: Most interpreters said that when the believers enter Paradise, they will know exactly where their houses are, and will never have to ask anyone about them; it will be as if they had been there since the day they were born. The believer will recognize his rank, wife, and servants in Paradise more than he did in his worldly life. Al-Baghawi: 4/154.
Question: How will Allah make Paradise known to its people?
Those who commit all kinds of sins, calling themselves Muslims, and saying: Allah will help us [against the enemy], are deluded because they are, obviously, not among the party of Allah whom He promised to help. Standing up for Allah means upholding His religion and His Book, striving to make His Word the highest, implementing the laws of His Sharia, abiding by His commands, and refraining from His prohibitions. Al-Shanqiti: 7/252.
Question: What is the meaning of standing up for Allah? Do those who commit sins deserve to be helped by Allah?
This is a warning to the Muslim Ummah that if they abandon standing up for Allah, fighting in His cause, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong, then Allah will forsake them, cease to help them, and empower their enemy to fight them. Some of that already occurred when defiantly disobedient people took charge because of the negligence of Muslims and falling behind while relying on others. Al-Biqai: 7/155.
Question: What is the punishment for disliking and turning away from the commands of Allah?
Every time Allah mentions "traveling through the land" in the Quran, whether physically, on foot or riding, or morally through pondering and reflecting, or both, it indicates taking heed and being warned to avoid the punishment that befell those before them. Ibn Al-Qayim: 2/454.
Question: What is the wisdom behind Allah’s command to His servants to travel through the land?
(Have no protector) to guide them to the paths of peace or save them from the wrath and punishment of Allah. Rather, their protectors are the false gods (Taghoot) who lead them from light into the depths of darkness. Al-Saadi: 786.
Question: If Taghoot are allies of the disbelievers, what does this verse mean: (the disbelievers have no protector)?
