ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ٥٤ ٥٤ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ
ﮭ ﮮ ٥٥ ٥٥ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ ﯕ
ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚ ﯛ ٥٦ ٥٦ ﯝ ﯞ
ﯟ ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ٥٧ ٥٧ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ
ﯩ ﯪ ٥٨ ٥٨ ﯬ ﯭ ﯮ ٥٩ ٥٩
ﯚ
إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ ٱللَّهُۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ ٤٢
(The All-Mighty): None has the ability to change what He decrees, as He is Merciful toward whomever He wills. (The Most Merciful): His mercy is vast toward whomever He wills from among His servants in accordance with His knowledge, wisdom, and promise, as stated in this Hadith: "Be merciful toward those who are on earth, and you will be shown mercy from One Who is above the heavens." Ibn Ashur: 25/31.
Question: This verse ends with these two holy Names (the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful). Why?
ذُقۡ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلۡعَزِيزُ ٱلۡكَرِيمُ ٤٩
This will be said to the disbeliever by way of rebuking and mocking him. It means that you were the honored and noble to yourself. Abu Jahl [a leader of the disbelievers in Makkah] said: In between these two mountains, there is none who is more noble and honored than me. Ibn Juzay: 2/324.
Question: On the Day of Resurrection, how will the disbeliever be called (honored) while he is in the Fire?
إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٖ ٥١
Safety is the most important feature of a good place, as the inhabitant's priority is seeking safety from fears and undesirable things. When he finds safety in his place, he will be at ease and enjoy his attained bliss. Ibn Ashur: 25/317.
Question: Given this verse, explain the great blessing of safety.
يَلۡبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٖ وَإِسۡتَبۡرَقٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَ ٥٣
Meaning: Sitting on thrones where none of them will sit with his back to anyone else. Ibn Kathir: 4/148.
Question: In Paradise, there will be no insulting behaviors. Explain in light of this verse.
يَدۡعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍ ءَامِنِينَ ٥٥
Meaning: The fruit in Paradise is not like the worldly fruit that we consume, but fear its ill effects and depletion. Al-Tabari: 22/53.
Question: In this verse, the fruit in Paradise is mentioned with safety and security. Why?
فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرۡنَٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ ٥٨
Meaning: We have made this Quran, which We have sent down, easy, plain and clear, in your language which is the most eloquent, clear and beautiful of all languages. Ibn Kathir: 4/149.
Question: Discuss the advantage of the Arabic language over other languages in light of this verse.
فَٱرۡتَقِبۡ إِنَّهُم مُّرۡتَقِبُونَ ٥٩
Meaning: Wait and watch when We give you victory over them and destroy them, while they wait for the opposite of that. This verse contains a promise and a threat. Ibn Juzay: 2/325.
Question: Explain how this verse combine a promise with a threat.
