In this verse, the mention of the night comes first because it is more wondrous in the sense that its darkness covers all the daylight. Ibn Ashur: 21/185.
Question: In this verse, the mention of the night comes first. Why?

Luqman Verses 0 - 31

The reason for singling out patience and gratitude for mention among the qualities of faith is because they are more relevant to the situation of traveling by sea, where a traveler is subjected to both danger and safety, which call for patience and gratitude. Ibn Ashur: 21/190.
Question: Traits of patience and gratitude are singled out for mention when traveling by sea. Why?

Luqman Verses 0 - 31

Meaning: Everyone who is patient with Allah’s decree, and grateful for His blessing. Those who focus on the meanings of words said: This description applies to every believer, since patience and gratitude are the best among the qualities of faith. Al-Qurtubi: 16/493.
Question: The verse ends with the mention of these two great qualities. Why?

Luqman Verses 0 - 31

In the original Arabic text, the words (patient and grateful) are expressed in emphasized forms to indicate that those who revere Allah in prosperity as well as in adversity are only those whom Allah instilled such qualities into their nature, and helped them keep their covenant and refrain from disloyalty, in conforming with the sound natural disposition, and how few they are. Al-Biqai: 15/206.
Question: (Patient and grateful) are expressed in emphasized form. Why?

Luqman Verses 0 - 32

(Treacherous), a traitor who denies Allah's favor by his disloyalty. Ibn Juzay: 2/176.
Question: The disbeliever is a traitor. Why?

Luqman Verses 0 - 33

Allah instructs people to fear Him, which means complying with His commands and refraining from what He forbids. He also reminds them to fear the Day of Resurrection, that difficult day when no one will care for anyone except himself, and (no father will avail his son, nor will a son avail his father anything). No one will be able to increase his good deeds or decrease his bad deeds; everyone’s deeds will have been decided and the requital for those deeds will become due. Allah draws our attention to this momentous day so as to give the individual strength and make it easier for him to fear Allah. Al-Saadi: 652.
Question: Allah often mentions in the Quran the horrors of the Day of Resurrection. Why?

Luqman Verses 0 - 34

In the words of the Prophet (ﷺ), these five knowledge areas are called "The keys of the unseen," with which he interpreted this verse, (He alone has the keys of the unseen; no one knows them except Him) [6:59]. In Sahih Al-Bukhari, Ibn Omar (t) narrated that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "The keys of the unseen are five", then he recited: (Indeed, Allah has the knowledge of the Hour). Ibn Ashur: 21/198.
Question: This verse mentions five knowledge areas. What are they called?
