Allah mentions the creation of things and their opposites to indicate to His creation the perfection of His power. Thus, He creates the plant from the seed and the seed from the plant; He creates the egg from the chicken and the chicken from the egg; He creates man from sperm and sperm from man; He creates the believer from the disbelievers, and the disbeliever from the believers. Ibn Kathir: 6/277.
Question: What is the benefit of knowing that Allah creates things and their opposites?
Allah placed love and mercy between married couple; hence, they have affection and love for each other even though they are not related. (Indeed, there are signs in this for people who reflect) on Allah's greatness and power. Al-Baghawi: 3/491.
Question: Describe Allah’s blessing in placing love and mercy between married couple.
One aspect of Allah's care and mercy toward His servants is that He has decreed these differences in tongues and colors, lest things resemble one another too closely, which would lead to confusion and would be detrimental to people’s interests. Al-Saadi: 639.
Question: A sign of Allah's mercy toward His servants is the diversity of tongues and colors. How?
All the people of this world, from the time that Allah created Adam, and until the Hour begins, each of them has two eyes, two eyebrows, a nose, a forehead, a mouth, and two cheeks but, none of them looks like another; there is bound to be some difference in posture, appearance, and speech, whether it is apparent or hidden, and can only be noticed with careful observation. Each face has its own characteristics and does not look like another; even if there was a group of people who looked alike, having a beautiful or ugly characteristic in common, there would still be a difference between one person and the next. Ibn Kathir: 6/279.
Question: When you reflect on the creation of people, what do we learn from that?
(And the diversity of your tongues and colors), the tongue is in the mouth, which contains the diversity of languages, such as Arabic, Persian, Turkish, and Latin, while the diversity of images (colors) are white, black, and reddish. You can hardly see two identical people, and these differences are not caused by the sperm drop or the parents; rather, they are made by the only One Who is Allah, and this is a definite proof of the One Who controls all things and gives every creation its particular. Al-Qurtubi: 16/413.
Question: What does the diversity of tongues and colors indicate?
(Seeking of His bounty), linking the (seeking) with the (bounty) indicates that the servant should not consider that obtaining his provision is due to his smartness; rather, he sees all that from his Lord's bounty. Al-Alusi: 11/33.
Question: What does linking the (seeking) with the (bounty) indicate in (Seeking of His bounty)?
Benefiting from these signs is limited to those who understand, since a sound mind that is free of stubbornness and obstinacy, is sufficient for understanding the evidence and prudence in the mentioned signs. Ibn Ashur: 21/79.
Question: Benefiting from these signs is limited to those who understand. Why?
