ﭙ ﭚ ﭛ ﭜ ﭝ ﭞ ﭟ ﭠ ٣١ ٣١
ﭢ ﭣ ﭤ ﭥ ﭦ ﭧ ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ
ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ ﭲ ﭳ ٣٢ ٣٢ ﭵ
ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ ﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ
ﮀ ﮁ ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈ
ﮉ ﮊ ﮋ ﮌ ٣٣ ٣٣ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ
ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ
٣٤ ٣٤ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ
٣٥ ٣٥ ﮣ ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ
ﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ
٣٦ ٣٦ ﯕ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚ
ﯛ ٣٧ ٣٧ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ ﯡ
ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ
ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ٣٨ ٣٨
وَلَمَّا جَآءَتۡ رُسُلُنَآ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ بِٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا مُهۡلِكُوٓاْ أَهۡلِ هَٰذِهِ ٱلۡقَرۡيَةِۖ إِنَّ أَهۡلَهَا كَانُواْ ظَٰلِمِينَ ٣١
Out of His grace, Allah gave glad tidings to Abraham (u) before informing him about the destruction of Lot’s people because He knew of Abraham's compassion. Ibn Ashur: 20/242.
Question: Allah gave glad tidings to Abraham before informing him about the destruction of Lot's people. Why?
إِنَّا مُنزِلُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِ هَٰذِهِ ٱلۡقَرۡيَةِ رِجۡزٗا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفۡسُقُونَ ٣٤
Ibn Abbas said: Lot's people had many sins other than the shameful act, such as: Transgressing and reviling one another, and transvestism in men and women was common. They exacted imposts on every passing traveler, they were polytheists, and they were the first, of all mankind, who committed sodomy and tribadism. Al-Qurtubi: 13/342.
Question: In view of this verse, explain the reasons for the destruction of cities and nations.
وَلَقَد تَّرَكۡنَا مِنۡهَآ ءَايَةَۢ بَيِّنَةٗ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡقِلُونَ ٣٥
Meaning: After We destroyed them, We left a (sign) showing what We did to them as a lesson and admonishment for (a people who use reason) in understanding the proofs from Allah, and reflect on His lessons. Al-Tabari: 20/33.
Question: What is the benefit of having the ruins of ancient generations still remaining?
وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِينَ ٣٦
Meaning: Do not disbelieve, since it is the origin of every corruption. Al-Qurtubi: 13/361.
Question: Shu'ayb (u) forbade them from spreading corruption. What was it?
وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ فَصَدَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَكَانُواْ مُسۡتَبۡصِرِينَ ٣٨
(And satan made their deeds appealing to them), through his whispering and temptation, satan made their evil deeds, like disbelief and sins, appealing to them. (They were people of perception), they were sane and able to differentiate between truth and falsehood through inference and thinking, but they neglected, and did not reflect. Al-Alusi: 10/362.
Question: What are the main ways of satan to misguide sane people?
وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ فَصَدَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَكَانُواْ مُسۡتَبۡصِرِينَ ٣٨
(They were people of perception), they had insight about their disbelief and were drawn to it in admiration. Moreover, it is said that they had good awareness of faith and belief, but they disbelieved because of their stubbornness. Ibn Juzay: 2/159.
Question: Is ignorance the only reason for disbelief?
وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ فَصَدَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَكَانُواْ مُسۡتَبۡصِرِينَ ٣٨
(They were people of perception), they recognized the truth from falsehood through clear proofs. Al-Farra said: "They were sane and had perception, but it did not benefit them." Al-Qurtubi: 16/362.
Question: Does a person's mind benefit him if he disobeys his Lord?
