Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 232

This verse was revealed about a man who divorces his wife once or twice and when her waiting period ends, he decides to take her back in marriage. The woman also wants to do that, but her guardians prevent her from remarrying him. Hence, Allah forbade them from preventing her. This indicates that a woman is not permitted to give herself in marriage. Rather, marriage requires the presence of a guardian such as her father, brother, adult son, and so forth. Ibn Kathir: 1/267.
Question: How does this verse support the requirement of a male guardian for a woman in marriage?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 232

(This is better and purer): This refers to allowing divorced women to get back with their former husbands. It is better for their souls and purer for their faith and honor, and to evade potential relations between them in the future to which the guardian is oblivious. Preventing them to get back with their husbands can lead to unlawful mixing and corruption, and Allah knows what people do not. Ibn Atiyah: 1/310.
Question: When does the involvement of a third party in marital matters harm them?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 232

The verse indicates that this advice is not easily recognized by everyone, so there must be guidance from Allah. (This [advice] is an admonition for all among you who believe in Allah and the Last Day), they are mentioned because they are the ones who hasten to comply out of reverence for Allah, the Almighty, and fear of His punishment. Al-Alusi: 2/145.
Question: This advice is directed to the believer in Allah and the Last Day. Why?

(Two full years): This indicates that the completed period for breastfeeding is two years, and anything beyond that is food. Ibn Taimyah: 1/553.
Question: What is the completed period for breastfeeding?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 233

The mother should not refuse to breastfeed her baby in order to harm the father, or to ask for more than her wage. It is not permissible for the father to prevent the mother from breastfeeding the baby when she wants to. Al-Qurtubi: 4/116.
Question: How can the mother and father cause harm to each other in the matter of breastfeeding their baby?
