An-Nur Verses 0 - 62

إِنَّمَا ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنُونَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَإِذَا كَانُواْ مَعَهُۥ عَلَىٰٓ أَمۡرٖ جَامِعٖ لَّمۡ يَذۡهَبُواْ حَتَّىٰ يَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُوهُۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ يَسۡتَـٔۡذِنُونَكَ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤۡمِنُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۚ

(On a public matter), a matter that gathers them all, such as an eminent war, a congregational prayer or a consultation on an urgent matter. (They do not leave), they do not depart from what brought them together until they ask permission from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). Al-Tabari: 19/228.
Question: Asking permission indicates faith and ensures the success of the collective efforts. Explain in light of this verse.

An-Nur Verses 0 - 62

وَٱسۡتَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمُ ٱللَّهَۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ ٦٢

(And ask Allah's forgiveness for them), supplicate Allah to favor them by forgiving their sins. (Allah is All-Forgiving) of His repentant servants' sins. (Most Merciful) toward them, Who does not punish them for sins after which they repented. Al-Tabari: 19/229.
Question: Supplicating Allah for those who are under his command in their absence, is the sign of the leader's forbearance and success. Explain.

An-Nur Verses 0 - 63

لَّا تَجۡعَلُواْ دُعَآءَ ٱلرَّسُولِ بَيۡنَكُمۡ كَدُعَآءِ بَعۡضِكُم بَعۡضٗاۚ

They are forbidden from calling the Messenger (ﷺ) as they do with each other, either by words or in any condition. As for words, they should not say: O Muhammad, O son of Abdullah, or, O son of Abdul Muttalib, but they should say: O Messenger of Allah, O Prophet of Allah, or, O Aba Al-Qasim. As for the proper condition, they should not call him from behind walls, and should not be persistent if he does not come to them. Ibn Ashur: 18/309.
Question: Venerating Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) is part of venerating Allah. Explain in light of this verse.

An-Nur Verses 0 - 63

لَّا تَجۡعَلُواْ دُعَآءَ ٱلرَّسُولِ بَيۡنَكُمۡ كَدُعَآءِ بَعۡضِكُم بَعۡضٗاۚ

This command emphasizes the veneration of the Messenger (ﷺ). It is said that a scholar among his people is like a Prophet among his Ummah (nation), hence, he should be respected when addressed and given a special attention. Al-Alusi: 9/419.
Question: There are beautiful etiquettes that a student of Islamic knowledge should observe with his teacher and other scholars. Explain in light of this verse.

Al-Furqan Verses 0 - 1

تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِي نَزَّلَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ لِيَكُونَ لِلۡعَٰلَمِينَ نَذِيرًا ١

There are two explanations for calling the Quran: The Criterion. First: It differentiates between truth and falsehood, and the believer and disbeliever. Second: It clarifies what is lawful and what is unlawful. Al-Qurtubi: 15/366.
Question: The Quran is called: (The Criterion). Why?

Al-Furqan Verses 0 - 1

تَبَارَكَ ٱلَّذِي نَزَّلَ ٱلۡفُرۡقَانَ عَلَىٰ عَبۡدِهِۦ لِيَكُونَ لِلۡعَٰلَمِينَ نَذِيرًا ١

(His slave), our Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ), and referring to him as (slave) is honoring him, proclaiming that he is at the highest levels of submission to Allah, and alerting to the fact that a messenger can only be a slave to the sender, which is a response to Christians. Al-Alusi: 9/422.
Question:  In sending down the Quran, Allah refers to the status of "submission" rather than status of Prophethood and Message. What do you learn from that?

Al-Furqan Verses 0 - 2

وَخَلَقَ كُلَّ شَيۡءٖ فَقَدَّرَهُۥ تَقۡدِيرٗا ٢

Allah shaped and enabled everything for what suits its livelihood, without flaws or imperfection. It is said: He predestined an appointed time and a provision for everything; thus, it is destined to happen. Al-Baghawi: 3/321.
Question: Show an aspect of Allah's greatness in determining His creation.
