Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 204

This verse indicates that intense quarrel is despicable; the Prophet (r) said: "The most despicable amongst people in the sight of Allah is the one who quarrels most." Intense quarrel is a trait of hypocrites because of their attachment to worldly things. Al-Alusi: 2/95
Question: Disputes are permissible but intense quarrels are censured. Explain in light of this verse.

Al-Baqarah Verses 204 - 205

In this verse there is evidence that the statements made by people are not evidence of truth or falsehood, righteousness or immorality unless there are actions that confirm that. Therefore, witnesses and those who are right or wrong among people should all be verified by examining their deeds, and looking at the evidence of their conditions. One should not be deceived by how they present or praise themselves. Al-Saadi: 94.
Question: What is the true test of the credibility of people's words?
?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 204

This verse contains evidence and a warning to be cautious regarding matters of religion and the world, and the need to verify the conditions of witnesses and judges, and that the ruler/judge should not base his judgment merely on the outward appearance of people or any display of faith and righteousness without investigating their inward conditions, because Allah reveals the conditions of people where some make good talk while intend evil. Al-Qurtubi: 3/383.
Question: Many of our mistakes are due to misjudging others, and this verse warns against that. Explain.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 205

(And when he goes away), when he leaves those whom he deceived with his words, (he strives), walks throughout the land to cause corruption by casting doubts in the hearts of Muslims, and devising tricks to strengthen disbelief. Al-Qasimi: 1/82.
Question: It is wise to link man's words to his actions. Explain in light of this verse.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 208

(Enter into Islam completely): that is, adhere to all teachings of Islam and do not neglect any of them. Do not be among those who take their desires as their god, and follow Allah's command only when it is in line with their whims, otherwise they do not. Rather, the right thing to do is to make one's desires subordinate to Sharia's teachings, and perform as much good deeds as he is able to. Al-Saadi: 94.
Question: Why are we commanded to enter into Islam completely?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 208

Since entering into Islam completely is only possible and conceivable by opposing the ways of satan, Allah says: (And do not follow the footsteps of satan). Al-Saadi: 94.
Question: After Allah commands us to enter Islam completely, He forbids us from following the footsteps of satan. Why?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 209

The verse proves that the punishment of one for a sin of which he is aware is greater than that of another who is ignorant of it. Al-Qurtubi: 3/395.
Question: The obedience of a knowledgeable person is greater than that of an ignorant one, and so is his disobedience. Explain in light of this verse.
