ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ ﭲ ٧٢ ٧٢ ﭴ ﭵ
ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ ﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ
٧٣ ٧٣ ﮁ ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ٧٤ ٧٤ ﮈ ﮉ
ﮊ ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ﮒ ﮓ
٧٥ ٧٥ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜ
ﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ
ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ ﯕ
ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚ ٧٦ ٧٦ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ
ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ
ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ﯮ ﯯ ﯰ ﯱ ﯲ ﯳ ﯴ ﯵ ﯶ
ﯷ ٧٧ ٧٧ ﯹ ﯺ ﯻ ﯼ ﯽ ﯾ ﯿ ﰀ
ﰁ ﰂ ﰃ ﰄ ﰅ ﰆ ﰇ ﰈ ٧٨ ٧٨
فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمۡ جَعَلَ ٱلسِّقَايَةَ فِي رَحۡلِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ أَيَّتُهَا ٱلۡعِيرُ إِنَّكُمۡ لَسَٰرِقُونَ ٧٠
It is permissible to use tricks to attain one's rights, and knowing hidden ways of achieving one's aims is something that is praiseworthy. What is prohibited is using tricks to avoid obligations or commit prohibited acts. Al-Saadi: 411.
Question: In light of this verse, what are the permitted tricks? What are the forbidden ones?
فَلَمَّا جَهَّزَهُم بِجَهَازِهِمۡ جَعَلَ ٱلسِّقَايَةَ فِي رَحۡلِ أَخِيهِ ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنٌ أَيَّتُهَا ٱلۡعِيرُ إِنَّكُمۡ لَسَٰرِقُونَ ٧٠
In calling them (thieves), two justifications were made, the first: It is said that Joseph's intention was hinting to the fact that they stole him from his father by taking him away using a ploy and betrayed their father, and a betrayer is called a thief. This is a widely used expression where even the betrayers among government workers are called thieves. Second: The announcer who called out did that without Joseph's (u) directive. Ibn Taimyah: 4/57.
Question: Joseph's brothers were called (thieves) even though they were not. How?
كَذَٰلِكَ كِدۡنَا لِيُوسُفَۖ مَا كَانَ لِيَأۡخُذَ أَخَاهُ فِي دِينِ ٱلۡمَلِكِ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُۚ
Having described how Joseph accomplished what he wanted to do of keeping his brother with him in such a way that his other brothers would not realize it, Allah says, (Thus did We plan for Joseph), We made easy for him this plan which enabled him to achieve something that was not blameworthy. Al-Saadi: 402.
Question: If Allah decrees good for His allies, none can withhold it. Explain in light of this verse.
نَرۡفَعُ دَرَجَٰتٖ مَّن نَّشَآءُۗ وَفَوۡقَ كُلِّ ذِي عِلۡمٍ عَلِيمٞ ٧٦
Meaning: Raising in knowledge, which is inferred by the next verse (but over all those endowed with knowledge is the All-Knowing (Allah)). That is, above each knowledgeable person is another (in knowledge), or Allah, the Almighty. Ibn Juzay: 1/422.
Question: In this verse, the degrees are interpreted as knowledge. Why?
نَرۡفَعُ دَرَجَٰتٖ مَّن نَّشَآءُۗ
Meaning: Raising the degrees through knowledge and faith. Al-Qurtubi: 11/417.
Question: What are the things that raise a servant higher in degrees?
وَفَوۡقَ كُلِّ ذِي عِلۡمٍ عَلِيمٞ ٧٦
Ibn Abbas (t) said: Above each knowledgeable person is another (in knowledge), and so on until the ultimate knowledge ends up with Allah, so, He is above all those who have knowledge. Al-Baghawi: 2/481.
Question: Describe the vastness of Allah's knowledge?
قَالُوٓاْ إِن يَسۡرِقۡ فَقَدۡ سَرَقَ أَخٞ لَّهُۥ مِن قَبۡلُۚ فَأَسَرَّهَا يُوسُفُ فِي نَفۡسِهِۦ وَلَمۡ يُبۡدِهَا لَهُمۡۚ قَالَ أَنتُمۡ شَرّٞ مَّكَانٗاۖ وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَصِفُونَ ٧٧
(And Allah is most knowing of what you describe), Allah knows that what you are saying is a lie. It is said that Joseph's (u) brothers were not Prophets at that time. Al-Qurtubi: 9/228.
Question: A lie was ascribed to Joseph's (u) brothers even though it is said that they were Prophets. How?
