(He said, "You are indeed an ignorant people"), what ignorance could be greater than that of one who is ignorant of his Lord and Creator, and wants to make others equal to Him, which they do not possess any power to bring benefit or cause harm, to cause death or bring life or bring about resurrection.

Moses' () description of them as (ignorant people) is confirmed by the use of the noun clause (in Arabic) which indicates that "ignorance" is a fixed trait of them and is rooted in their souls. Otherwise, they would, essentially, have had a deterrence from asking such a question. Ibn Ashur: 9/82.

(He has favored you above the worlds) means: Allah favored them above the nations of their times for many reasons: First: They were descendants of Messengers and Prophets. Second: The Messengers and Prophets came from among them. Third: Allah has guided them to His Oneness, and saved them from the religion of Pharaoh after they floundered in it. Fourth: Allah has freed them from bondage, made them the owners of a blessed land, and helped them with His victory and signs. Fifth: Allah has sent to them a Messenger to rule them with Sharia. All of these favors were not given to a nation of their times except them. Ibn Ashur: 9/84.
Question: What is meant by (above the worlds)? What were the things for which Allah favored the Children of Israel above the worlds?

When Moses () went to the place appointed by his Lord, at the time appointed, he said to Aaron (), leaving him in charge of the Israelites because of his concern and kindness toward them: (Take my place among my people in my absence), which means: Be my deputy among them and deal with them as I have been dealing with them (keep things right) follow the path that maintains order and peace (and do not follow the way of those who spread corruption) namely, those who commit sins.
