An-Nisa Verses 0 - 76

The individual's participation in Jihad is commensurate with his level of faith in Allah, sincerity and commitment. Jihad in Allah's cause is one of the signs, requirements and results of faith, just as fighting in the cause of taghoot is one of the signs and results of disbelief. Al-Saadi: 187.
Question: How is faith related to Jihad?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 76

Allah describes them as (weak) since they do not fight hoping for reward, nor they abandon fighting out of fear of punishment. Rather, they fight out of haughtiness or envy of the believers for what Allah has given them of His bounty. In contrast, the believers fight hoping for Allah's great reward, and they abandon fighting out of fear of His punishment. So, the believer fights with insight into what he will have with Allah if he is killed, and what he will have of spoils and victory if he is safe. The disbeliever fights out of fear of being killed and despair of resurrection. Al-Tabari: 8/547.
Question: Allah describes the plot of satan and his allies as (weak). Why ?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 76

The plot of satan is his scheme, which is manifested in the plot of his allies against Muslims to turn people against them. Ibn Ashur: 5/124.
Question: What is meant by the plot of satan?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 77

The command to establish prayer and pay zakah is to alert them that striving against oneself precedes Jihad against the disbelievers. Unless a Muslim is able to submit to Allah's command to be generous with money, he will hardly be able to be generous with his soul, for being generous with one's soul is the ultimate form of generosity. Al-Alusi: 5/85.
Question: Why is the command to pray and give zakah precedes the command to fight?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 77

Meaning: Even if Allah extended your lifespans until you become tired of life, it will still be short because every temporary thing is little. Moreover, attaining its pleasures is not certain, and if they are attained, they will be marred by discomforts. Al-Biqai: 2/283.
Question: Is longevity a cause of happiness after all?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 77

The enjoyment of this world is enjoying its benefits and pleasures. It is described as (little) because it will perish, and the Prophet (r) said: "This world and I are just like a rider who rested beneath the shade of a tree then went and left it." Al-Qurtubi: 6/463.
Question: Why is the enjoyment of this life described as (little)?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 78

This is an implicit praise for the those who understand what Allah and His Messenger say, and it is encouragement to do so and to look for means that will help to attain that, such as focusing on their words and pondering them, and taking measures to understand them. Al-Saadi: 189.
Question: How does this verse encourage seeking knowledge?
