Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 58

In summary: They were commanded to submit to Allah at the time of conquest in deed and word, confess their sins, seek forgiveness for them, and be grateful for Allah's blessings. That is why Prophet Muhammad (r) showed humbleness in victory. It was narrated that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, he entered from the upper Thaniyah (a mountain pass to Makkah), and he was so humble to his Lord that his beard was touching the hump of his camel in gratitude to Allah. Then, when he entered the city, he washed himself and prayed eight Rak'as. Ibn Kathir: 1/94.
Question: What should Muslims do at the time of victory?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 61

This contains a threat to this Muslim nation due to what has prevailed among some of them who, like the Children of Israel, replace what is less in meaning from the forbidden and ambiguous with what is higher in meaning from the good. Al-Biqai: 1/149.
Question: What lessons can Muslims learn from what happened to the Children of Israel?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 61

Since their behavior was the greatest evidence of their lack of patience and their contempt for the commands and blessings of Allah, He requited them with an appropriate punishment; He says, (They were struck with humiliation) that could be seen on their physical appearance, (and poverty) in their hearts. Al-Saadi: 53.
Question: Why were humiliation and poverty considered an appropriate punishment for the sins of Children of Israel?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 61

The meaning of the permanence of humiliation and poverty of the Jews is that they lost their courage and bravery, and the signs of poverty and need became apparent on them despite the abundance of what Allah had bestowed upon them; however, when they grew tired of it, it became like nothing to them, and therefore greed became a permanent characteristic of theirs. Ibn Ashur: 1/528.
Question: Greed and avarice are Jewish traits. How does the above verse indicate this fact?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 61

That was because (they disobeyed) by committing sins and (were transgressing) against the servants of Allah, for one sin leads to another. Heedlessness leads to a minor sin that leads to a major one, which then leads to various types of innovation, disbelief and other things. We ask Allah to keep us safe from all trials. Al-Saadi: 53.
Question: When a heedless person disregards minor sins, they will lead him to major sins, then to disbelief. Explain.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 61

Addiction to committing sins leads one deeper into them, moving from a minor sin to a major one. Ibn Ashur: 1/530.
Question: What can you infer from the movement of the Children of Israel from minor sins to disbelief and killing of their Prophets?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 61

The meaning is that what led them to disbelieve in the signs of Allah and kill the prophets was their previous disobedience, aggression, and crossing of the limits set by Allah, as one sin leads to another. Al-Alusi: 1/277.
Question: What led the Jews to disbelieve in the signs of Allah and kill the Prophets?
