An-Nisa Verses 0 - 27

Once you realize that Allah enjoins upon you what is in your best interests, and will lead to your success and happiness, while those who follow their whims and desires are enjoining upon you that which will lead to the utmost loss and misery, then choose for yourselves the better of the two callers, and select the better of the two path. Al-Saadi: 175.
Question: Allah clarifies the paths for people, so what should they do?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 32

When Allah forbade consuming people's property unlawfully and killing oneself, He warned against the consequences of greed for people’s property, either by physically taking some of it, or by envying them for what they own. This is to ensure that their outward and inward deeds are pure. Al-Alusi: 5/19.
Question: Desiring the blessings of others is prohibited. Why?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 29

This verse is the best proof against some ignorant Sufis who disapprove of making a living through trade and manufacturing. Al-Qurtubi: 6/250.
Question: Does striving to seek a livelihood and trade contradict reliance upon Allah? Explain in light of this verse.

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 31

Ibn Abbas (t) said: Major sins are every sin that Allah mentions its punishment as Hellfire, curse or wrath. Ibn Juzay: 1/187.
Question: What is meant by "major sins"? Give three examples.

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 32

The reason of revelation of this verse (Do not wish...) is that women said: "If only we were equal to men in inheritance and participated with them in Jihad." So, this verse was revealed forbidding them from wishing that because it implies a rejection of the rules of Sharia. This prohibition, also, includes wishing things that are against the rules of Sharia. Ibn Juzay: 1/187.
Question: Wishing for what Allah has favored some people over others is prohibited. Why?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 32

Allah forbade wishing for what He has bestowed upon others because it leads to envy. Envy is when a person wishes for the loss of a blessings from another, whether he wishes it for himself or not, and this is forbidden. However, aspiration is when one wishes to have the same possessions or qualities, then it is permissible. Al-Kalbi (a prominent scholar) said: "One should not wish for another man's wealth, wife or servant, but he should say, "O Allah grant me similar to what he has." Al-Baghawi: 1/517.
Question: What is the difference between envy and aspiration?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 32

In this verse, the favors of Allah upon both men and women are expressed as rewards of their deeds, affirming the entitlement of each to his/her share so that it does not pass over to others. This should end the wishing, as each has a share of reward according to what Allah Almighty has charged him with of acts of obedience through His good governance. Al-Alusi: 5/19.
Question: Why are the favors of Allah upon men and women expressed as rewards of their deeds?
