وَأُحِلَّ لَكُم مَّا وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكُمۡ
All those who are not mentioned in this verse are permissible and good. Thus, what is prohibited is limited, but there is no limit or restriction on what is permitted. This is the kindness and mercy of Allah to make things easy for people. Al-Saadi: 174.
Question: This verse indicates the ease of this religion and the vastness of Allah's mercy. Explain.
وَٱللَّهُ أَعۡلَمُ بِإِيمَٰنِكُمۚ بَعۡضُكُم مِّنۢ بَعۡضٖۚ
Do not judge the faith of others by speculating that which in their hearts, rather be content with their outward display of faith, for only Allah Knows best about your faith. Al-Baghawi: 1/509.
Question: Is judging others by speculating what is in their hearts a good Muslim approach? Why?
ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنۡ خَشِيَ ٱلۡعَنَتَ مِنكُمۡۚ وَأَن تَصۡبِرُواْ خَيۡرٞ لَّكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞ ٢٥
The Arabic word "Al-Anat", which means (falling into sin), originally comes from an Arabic literal meaning: "The fracture of a bone after it has been mended." It is used as a metaphor for every hardship and harm that befalls a person after his condition has condition has improved, and there is no greater harm than committing the most heinous of sins by someone after he reformed himself. Al-Alusi: 5/12.
Question: Marrying a slave-woman because of fearing "Al-Anat." Explain.
This verse concludes with these two noble Names of Allah: (All-Forgiving) and (Most Merciful), because these rulings are a mercy and kindness to people. Allah did not place constraints on them; rather He has given them a great latitude in these rulings. Mentioning forgiveness after the mention of Hadd (a mandatory prescribed penalty) indicates that Hadd penalties are expiation by means of which Allah forgives the sins of His servants as it is stated in a Prophetic Hadith. Al-Saadi: 175.
Question: The verse concludes with two Names of Allah: (All-Forgiving) and (Most Merciful). Why?
يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمۡ وَيَهۡدِيَكُمۡ سُنَنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ
(To make things clear to you), meaning: To make clear to you the matter of your religion, the interests of your affair, and what is permissible for you and what is forbidden to you. This indicates that nothing is left without guidance from Allah as He says: (We left nothing unaccounted for in the Book) [6:38]. Al-Qurtubi: 6/244.
Question: Is there an emerging issue or a contemporary case in which Allah's Sharia does not have a statement or ruling?
يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمۡ وَيَهۡدِيَكُمۡ سُنَنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ
Meaning: Allah guides you to the ways of the Prophets and righteous people before you, so that you can follow their example. Ibn Juzay: 1/186.
Question: Throughout the years, the believers have been brothers who follow each other's example. Explain in light of this verse.
يُرِيدُ ٱللَّهُ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَكُمۡ وَيَهۡدِيَكُمۡ سُنَنَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِكُمۡ وَيَتُوبَ عَلَيۡكُمۡۗ وَٱللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٞ ٢٦
(And accept your repentance), Meaning: Allah shows mercy to you in all your situations and in all that which He prescribes for you, so that you will be aware of the limits of Allah and be content with what He has permitted; then your sins will be lessened because of what Allah has made easy for you. This is from His mercy toward His servants. Moreover, from His mercy toward them is that if they commit a sin, He opens the gates of mercy to them and directs their hearts to repent to Him, and humble themselves before Him, then He accepts their repentance of that which He guided them to. Al-Saadi: 175.
Question: How does Allah accept His servants' repentance?
