An-Nisa Verses 0 - 1

The believer's awareness of Allah's presence in his life is a noble level of faith. It consists of two parts: Knowledge and state. As for knowledge, it is the believer's knowledge that Allah is aware of him, sees all his deeds, hears all his words, and knows everything that crosses his mind. As for the state, it is the persistence of this knowledge in his heart such that it overcomes it, and he does not lose sight of it. Knowledge without this state is not sufficient. Ibn Juzay: 1/172.
Question: What is the origin of the believer's awareness of Allah's presence in his life?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 1

The verb (fear) is repeated, because this piety is commanded specifically to Muslims, as there remains among them a remnant of the customs of the Age of Ignorance that they are not aware of, namely carelessness in observing the rights of relatives and orphans. Ibn Ashur: 4/217.
Question: The command to fear Allah is repeated twice in this verse. Why?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 1

There is also another reason to fear Him, which is that you demand your mutual rights in His name, and venerate Him by doing so, in that when you want your needs to be met and your goals fulfilled, you try to get them by asking for them in the name of Allah. Hence, when one wants something from another, he would say to him: I ask you by Allah to do such and such. That is because he knows what the other person has in his heart of veneration toward Allah, which will make him not reject anyone who asks him by Allah. Therefore, just as you venerate Him by doing that, you should also venerate Him by worshiping and fearing Him. Al-Saadi: 163.
Question: We venerate Allah in certain things and fail to do so in others. Explain.

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 2

In the previous Surah, the story of "Uhud" was mentioned, which resulted in orphans, then Allah says, (Every soul will taste death) [3:185], which decrees that death is inevitable, and thus orphans will always be there. Hence, Allah calls for chastity and justice toward them. Fear of Allah is manifested in dealing with orphans who come next to kinships in importance, hence, He says, (And give orphans). Al-Biqai: 2/207.
Question: After mentioning death and the story of "Uhud" at the end of Surat Al-Imran, orphans are mentioned in Surat An-Nisa. Why?

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 3

Meaning: Choose as you see fit, and the best of what can be chosen is the quality of religion, as the Prophet (r) said: "A Woman is married for four reasons: Her wealth, her beauty, her lineage and her religious commitment; choose the one who is religious, may your hands be rubbed with dust." This verse indicates that a person should choose before marriage, and it is permissible for him to look at the one he wants to marry in order to be aware of his choice. Al-Saadi: 164.
Question: (Of your choice) indicates the importance of selecting a wife. Explain.

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 3

In this: One should not put himself in a situation in which he fears injustice, oppression, and failure to fulfill his duty, even if it is permissible. Therefore, he must take the side of caution and protect his religious commitment, for keeping his religious commitment intact is the best. Al-Saadi: 164.
Question: If it is likely that injustice will occur, it is wise to avoid its causes. Explain in light of this verse.

An-Nisa Verses 0 - 5

This verse indicates the advantage of having wealth. The righteous predecessors used to say: "Money is the arm of the believer, and it is better that I leave wealth for which Allah will hold me accountable than living poor and in need of people." They used to say: "Trade and earn money, for you are living in a time when one is in need, he would exchange his religion for it." Al-Alusi: 4/202.
Question: What does this verse, (Your property, which Allah has made a means of livelihood for you) refer to?
