Al-Adiyat Verses 0 - 6

(Indeed, man is very ungrateful to his Lord), ungrateful for the blessings that Allah has bestowed upon him and denies them. The meaning of this verse applies to all of mankind because it is part of man's nature to do so, except for those whom Allah has protected through His kindness and enabled them to succeed. Al-Alusi: 15/445.
Question: What would you do now that you know that the majority of people are ungrateful to Allah?

Al-Adiyat Verses 0 - 8

Meaning: Man loves wealth very much, and it is his love thereof that led him not to carry out the duties that he should and to give precedence to his desire for wealth over the dues of his Lord. All of that is because he is short-sighted, limits his focus on this world, and is heedless of the Hereafter. Al-Saadi: 933.
Question: What are the effects of extreme love of wealth on a person's moral behaviors?

Al-Adiyat Verses 9 - 10

In these two verses, Allah mentions graves and hearts together. Man's heart hides within it goodness and evil, and the grave hides within it his body. Then, Allah will bring out the person's body from his grave and bring out the secrets that reside within his heart, so his body will be visible on the earth and his secrets are apparent on his face. Ibn Al-Qayim: 3/352-353.
Question: Why are hearts and graves mentioned in the same context?

This verse contains an admonishment and a rebuke. (Alhakum), distracts you. (At-Takathur), flaunting with wealth and the number of children, where some would say: "We have more", while others would say the same. When the Prophet (ﷺ) read this verse, he said: "The son of Adam says: 'My wealth, my wealth', and the Prophet said: You will have none of your wealth except that which you ate and it became consumed, or what you wore and it became ragged, or what you gave to charity and it would be stored for you [as a reward in the Hereafter]." Ibn Juzay: 2/605.
Question: What is intended meaning behind this verse? Include some examples of flaunting.

At-Takathur Verses 0 - 1

What they compete in is not specified, so as to include everything that people compete to accumulate and boast about, such as accumulating wealth, children, supporters, troops, servants, status and other things that people usually compete with one another for, where the aim is not to sincerely seek the pleasure of Allah. Al-Saadi: 933.
Question: The verse does not specify what people compete for. Why?

At-Takathur Verses 0 - 2

Qatada said: "They used to say: We outnumber the people of so-and-so tribe, and we own more things than so-and-so tribe, while they were dying every day until they all ended up in the graves." Al-Qurtubi: 22/449-450.
Question: What awaits boastful people at the end?

At-Takathur Verses 0 - 8

Meaning: You will be asked about your gratefulness towards Allah's blessings; a believer is obligated to thank Allah for the blessings that he was given. Ibn Taimyah: 7/178.
Question: How can the believer protect himself from being questioned about his worldly pleasures?
