The fact that the Quran was revealed at night is indicative of the virtue of the night. The Quran and Prophetic Sunnah have indications of this meaning. From the Quran: (Glory be to the One Who took His servant by night), (And pray from the night), (And glorify Him in the night and after prostration), (Indeed, worship at night is more effective), and (They used to sleep only a little at night). From Prophetic Sunnah: "Our Lord who is blessed and exalted descends every night to the lowest heaven when the last one-third of the night remains." This indicates that the night is the time for divine inspiration and the nearness of the Lord to His servants, as the heart is clear of distractions. The stillness and awe of the night make the heart clearer and more attentive. Al-Shanqiti: 9/38.
