Moses (u) urged Pharaoh to rid himself of false belief, which is a figurative impurity inside the soul, and accept the guidance of one who would lead him to what is good and pure. Ibn Ashur: 30/77.
Question: At the outset, Moses (u) urged Pharaoh to purify himself. Why?
In this verse, (so you would fear) is made as a result of (let me guide you) to indicate that true fear of Allah does not occur without knowledge. Allah says, (Only the people of knowledge among His servants fear Allah)[35:28]. Meaning: Those who know Him have full fear of Him without a mistakes or shortcomings. Ibn Ashur: 30/77.
Question: In this verse, the fear of Allah comes as a result of guidance. Why?
The one who fears Allah is the one who will benefit from signs and lessons. When he sees the punishment of Pharaoh, he will realize that whoever is arrogant and disobeys, and opposes the Sovereign Most High, He will punish him in this world and the Hereafter. As for the one whose heart is devoid of fear of Allah, no matter what sign comes to him, he will not believe in it. Al-Saadi: 909.
Question: Who benefits from the Quranic admonishments? Who does not?
Allah states that giving a clear sign to those who disbelieve in the resurrection and think it is unlikely that Allah will recreate their bodies: (Are you), O humans, (more difficult to create, or the heaven). The One Who created the mighty heavens and all that they contain of lights and heavenly bodies, and the solid earth and all that it contains of necessities and that which benefits people, will inevitably resurrect those who are accountable, then He will requite them for their deeds. Al-Saadi: 909.
Question: What do these great signs, mentioned by Allah, indicate? Why is the recompense mentioned afterward?
The Fire will be visible to all. As for the believer, seeing the Fire will make him appreciate the immense blessing of Allah on him by saving him from it. For the disbeliever, however, this will add distress to his distress and regrets to his regrets. Al-Shawkani: 5/380.
Question: Will the Fire be visible to all, or only to the disbelievers? Why?
In the Arabic text, the word for desires is "Hawa," which means inclination, and it is commonly associated with lust. Ar-Raghib said: "Hawa" is named as such because it throws those who follow it into disgrace in worldly life and into the abyss in the Hereafter. Those who oppose their "Hawa" are therefore praised. A wise man said: If you want to do the right thing, check your "Hawa," and do the opposite. Al-Fudhail said: The best deeds are doing the opposite of your "Hawa". Al-Alusi: 30/36.
Question: Why is "Hawa" named as such?
Meaning: You are sent to warn people about it; it is not your duty to inform them when it will occur. (Those who fear it) are singled out because they are the only ones who benefit from the warning. Ibn Juzay: 2/535.
Question: Who benefits from the warning?
