٣ ٣ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ ٤ ٤ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ٥ ٥ ﮗ
ﮘ ﮙ ٦ ٦ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ٧ ٧ ﮟ ﮠ
ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ٨ ٨ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ
ﮩ ٩ ٩ ﮫ ﮬ ١٠ ١٠ ﮮ ﮯ ١١ ١١
ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ ١٢ ١٢ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ١٣ ١٣ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ
١٤ ١٤ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ ١٥ ١٥ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ ١٦ ١٦
حُورٞ مَّقۡصُورَٰتٞ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ ٧٢
Beautiful fair women reserved, and guarded because women are praised for staying in their houses, and censured for leaving them. Ibn Juzay: 2/397.
Question: Explain how this verse encourages women to stay in their houses.
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ ٱلۡوَاقِعَةُ ١
It is called Waqi'ah because its occurrence is inevitable, or because it is very near. Moreover, it may be because of its immense hardships. Al-Shawkani: 5/147.
Question: Why is Al-Waqi'ah called as such?
خَافِضَةٞ رَّافِعَةٌ ٣
It will bring some people down to the Fire and raise others to Paradise. Ibn Abbas (k) said: It will bring down some people who, in this life, were in high places, and will raise others who, in this life, were oppressed. Al-Baghawi: 4/301.
Question: On the Day of Resurrection, who will be brought down, and who will be raised?
وَالسّٰبِقُوْنَ السّٰبِقُوْنَ ١٠
Those who rush to obey Allah in this life and are foremost in performing acts of righteousness, will be among the foremost believers honored in the Hereafter. Verily, the reward fits the deed. Ibn Kathir: 4/285.
Question: Why will these people be the forerunners in the Hereafter?
ثُلَّةٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِينَ ١٣ وَقَلِيلٞ مِّنَ ٱلۡأٓخِرِينَ ١٤
(Many from the early generations), many from the earlier generations of this Ummah and other nations. (And a few from the later generations): This is indicative of the superiority of the early generations of this Ummah over its later generations, in general terms, because the numbers of those who were close to Allah are greater among the earlier generations than among the later generations. Al-Saadi: 833.
Question: These two verses indicate the superiority of earlier generations of this Ummah over its later ones. Explain.
عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مَّوۡضُونَةٖ ١٥ مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ ١٦
In any large gathering of people, some will inevitably have their backs toward others. But, the gatherings in Paradise will be different. He says, (Facing each other), without being distant, or facing the backs of one another, or disliking each other. Al-Biqai: 19/203.
Question: What is meant by (facing each other)?
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَيۡهَا مُتَقَٰبِلِينَ ١٦
Facing one another because of their purity of heart and good manners, and the harmony among them. Al-Saadi: 833.
Question: This verse indicates the purity of the hearts of the people of Paradise, and the removal of resentment and ill feeling from their hearts. Explain.
