Having commanded His Messenger (ﷺ) to turn away from them, Allah commanded him not to neglect reminding and admonishing in the best manner. Al-Shawkani: 5/92.
Question: There is a useful preaching lesson in the command to keep reminding after being commanded to turn away. Explain.
Allah limits the justification of His command of reminding to one reason, which is its benefit to the believers since that is realized, and to show concern for them at the same time there is disregard of the disbelievers. Allah says, (So remind, if the reminder should benefit ` The reminder will be received by him who fears Allah ` But it will be avoided by the wretched)[87:9-11]. Ibn Ashur: 27/24.
Question: Allah limits the justification of His command of reminding to its benefit to the believers. Why?
The mention of jinn precedes mankind in this verse because the polytheists showed interest in what they considered a strange piece of information about the jinn, whom they used to worship, so that they would know that the jinn were only servants of Allah. Ibn Ashur: 27/28.
Question: The mention of jinn precedes mankind in this verse. Why?
By His might He causes His provision to reach all the worlds. Al-Saadi: 813.
Question: Allah's attribute, (the Mighty) is mentioned after (the All-Provider). Why?
Omar (t) went out checking the welfare of Muslims and passed by the house of a man who was standing in voluntary prayer. Omar stood quietly, listening to his recitation; the man was reciting, (By the mount of Tur), until he reached (The punishment of your Lord will surely come to pass ` There is none who can avert it) Omar said, "By the Lord of the Ka'bah, this is a true oath." Omar dismounted his donkey and sat next to a wall for a while. He then went back to his house and fell ill for a month. During his illness, people would visit him, not knowing what caused his illness. Ibn Kathir: 4/242.
Question: Can someone reflect on the meanings of the Quran by listening to it? Explain.
Anas bin Malik reported on the authority of Malik bin Sa'sa'a, a person of his tribe, that Allah's Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Then the frequented House was raised to me. I said: O Gabriel! What is this? He replied: It is the frequented House (Al-Bait Al-Ma'mur); seventy thousand angels enter it daily, and after they come out, they never return." Al-Tabari: 22/455.
Question: The frequented House (Al-Bait Al-Ma'mur) has a great status. What is the proof for that?
Allah describes the knowledge they used to have as falsehood, which is ill speech, and describes their deeds as amusement, which is wasted effort. Hence, they neither had useful knowledge, nor righteous deeds. Ibn Al-Qayim: 3/55.
Question: This verse mentions the most prominent traits of the deniers. What are they?
