Ad-Dukhan Verses 0 - 3

إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةٖ مُّبَٰرَكَةٍۚ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ ٣

(During a blessed night), one in which there was much good and blessing, namely the night of the Decree (Laylat Al-Qadr), which is better than a thousand months. Thus, He sent down the best of words on the best of nights and days, to the best of people, in the language of the Arabs. Al-Saadi: 773.
Question: What is meant by the blessed night? Why is it described as: A blessed?

Ad-Dukhan Verses 0 - 4

فِيهَا يُفۡرَقُ كُلُّ أَمۡرٍ حَكِيمٍ ٤

(Is determined), decreed. (Matter of wisdom) is the servants’ provisions, their destinies, and all of their matters for that particular year. It is copied off the Preserved Tablet so that the angels can follow its manifestation throughout the coming year. Ibn Juzay: 2/321.
Question: What is the matter of wisdom that is determined on the night of the Decree?

Ad-Dukhan Verses 0 - 9

بَلۡ هُمۡ فِي شَكّٖ يَلۡعَبُونَ ٩

Their acknowledgment of the Lordship of Allah was not based on knowledge and certain conviction. Rather, it was as good as nonexistent, because they mixed it with doubt and frivolity, hence, it lacked certainty and admission, which is putting the knowledge into practice. If one does not practice what he knows and maintain it, it will be forgotten until it turns into doubts. Ibn Ashur: 25/284-285.
Question: Given this verse, explain the risk of not practicing what you know.

Ad-Dukhan Verses 0 - 10

فَٱرۡتَقِبۡ يَوۡمَ تَأۡتِي ٱلسَّمَآءُ بِدُخَانٖ مُّبِينٖ ١٠

Abu Huraira (t) narrated that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Hasten to do good deeds before six things occur: The Antichrist, the Smoke, Beast of the Earth, the rising of the sun from the west, that which will happen to all people (Day of Resurrection), and that which will happen to each of you (death)." Al-Biqai: 7/68.
Question: What are the negative consequences of procrastinating good deeds?

Ad-Dukhan Verses 0 - 12

رَّبَّنَا ٱكۡشِفۡ عَنَّا ٱلۡعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤۡمِنُونَ ١٢

(We are believers) is a justification for their request to remove the torment from them, which means that we have become immune to the punishment that is deserved by the disbelievers. Their statement points to the high honor of faith. Ibn Ashur: 25/290.
Question: This verse points to the high honor of faith. How?

Ad-Dukhan Verses 0 - 17

۞وَلَقَدۡ فَتَنَّا قَبۡلَهُمۡ قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَجَآءَهُمۡ رَسُولٞ كَرِيمٌ ١٧

(A noble messenger), Qatadah said: This refers to Moses (u), and Allah describes him as noble because he has a high status with Him. Moreover, he is described as such since he has a high standing with his people. Al-Tabari: 22/24.
Question: Moses (u) is described as noble. Why?

Ad-Dukhan Verses 0 - 18

إِنِّي لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٞ ١٨

Meaning: A Messenger from the Lord of the worlds, faithful to the purpose for which He has sent me; I do not withhold anything of the message from you, and I do not add anything to it, or take anything away from it, and this requires you to submit completely to Him. Al-Saadi: 773.
Question: This verse contains a censure for religious innovation. Explain.
