Az-Zukhruf Verses 0 - 48

وَمَا نُرِيهِم مِّنۡ ءَايَةٍ إِلَّا هِيَ أَكۡبَرُ مِنۡ أُخۡتِهَاۖ وَأَخَذۡنَٰهُم بِٱلۡعَذَابِ لَعَلَّهُمۡ يَرۡجِعُونَ ٤٨

Allah reveals that the reason for seizing them with punishment was so that they may turn in repentance. Al-Shawkani: 4/559.
Question: Allah's mercy toward His servants manifests in His worldly punishment. Explain in light of this verse.

Az-Zukhruf Verses 0 - 49

وَقَالُواْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَ ٱلسَّاحِرُ ٱدۡعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ إِنَّنَا لَمُهۡتَدُونَ ٤٩

(O magician) meaning Moses (u). This was either by way of ridiculing him, or because for them addressing someone in this manner was a kind of praise, so they beseeched him by addressing him as they addressed their so-called scholars, namely the magicians. Al-Saadi: 767.
Question: Scholars and worshipers are indispensable to the society. Explain in light of this verse.

Az-Zukhruf Verses 0 - 51

وَنَادَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِي قَوۡمِهِۦ قَالَ يَٰقَوۡمِ أَلَيۡسَ لِي مُلۡكُ مِصۡرَ وَهَٰذِهِ ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُ تَجۡرِي مِن تَحۡتِيٓۚ أَفَلَا تُبۡصِرُونَ ٥١

This stemmed from his enormous ignorance, for he took pride in something that was not connected to his attitude and character, and he did not take pride in praiseworthy characteristics or righteous deeds. Al-Saadi: 767.
Question: Pharaoh's praise of himself reflects his enormous ignorance. Explain.

Az-Zukhruf Verses 0 - 53

فَلَوۡلَآ أُلۡقِيَ عَلَيۡهِ أَسۡوِرَةٞ مِّن ذَهَبٍ أَوۡ جَآءَ مَعَهُ ٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ مُقۡتَرِنِينَ ٥٣

He looked only at outward appearances and did not understand the true inner matters that are clearer than what he focused on, if only he had understood that.

Question: Pharaoh had an invalid assessment of Moses. Explain.

Az-Zukhruf Verses 0 - 54

فَٱسۡتَخَفَّ قَوۡمَهُۥ فَأَطَاعُوهُۚ إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ قَوۡمٗا فَٰسِقِينَ ٥٤

Meaning: He befooled his people, the Copts; he found them ignorant. It is said that he incited recklessness and ignorance among them. Al-Baghawi: 4/103.
Question: Ignorance is among the reasons for the spread of religious innovation and misguidance. Explain.

Az-Zukhruf Verses 0 - 55

فَلَمَّآ ءَاسَفُونَا ٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنۡهُمۡ فَأَغۡرَقۡنَٰهُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ ٥٥

Omar bin Tharr said: "O disobedient people, do not be deluded by Allah’s long forbearance toward you and beware of His anger, because He said, (and when they angered Us, We took retribution from them)."Al-Qurtubi: 19/64..
Question: In light of this verse, explain the risk of excessive disobedience and delusion.

Az-Zukhruf Verses 0 - 56

فَجَعَلۡنَٰهُمۡ سَلَفٗا وَمَثَلٗا لِّلۡأٓخِرِينَ ٥٦

Their plight became an admonishment for some and misguiding for others. Whoever decides to emulate them and have the same fate, will do as they did; and whoever wants to be saved from their fate, will avoid doing what they did. Al-Biqai: 7/39.
Question: How does Allah make the plight of former nations an admonishment for some and misguiding for others?
