Ash-Shura Verses 0 - 23

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلَّذِي يُبَشِّرُ ٱللَّهُ عِبَادَهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِۗ

Having mentioned the gardens of Paradise, Allah then says to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds: (That is the glad tidings that Allah gives to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds) meaning, this will undoubtedly come to them, because it is glad tidings from Allah to them. Ibn Kathir: 4/114.
Question: What is the purpose of glad tidings to the believers in this verse?

Ash-Shura Verses 0 - 25

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يَقۡبَلُ ٱلتَّوۡبَةَ عَنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَعۡفُواْ عَنِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ ٢٥

Because repentance is one of the great deeds that may be perfected because of complete sincerity and resolve, or it may be imperfect if sincerity is lacking, or it may be invalid if the aim is to attain some worldly gain, and because the place of repentance is the heart, which no one knows except Allah, He concludes this verse with the words: (And He knows what you do). Al-Saadi: 758.
Question: The verse ends with: (And He knows what you do). Why?

Ash-Shura Verses 0 - 25

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يَقۡبَلُ ٱلتَّوۡبَةَ عَنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَعۡفُواْ عَنِ ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ وَيَعۡلَمُ مَا تَفۡعَلُونَ ٢٥

The use of the term: (His servants) instead of “the people”, or “the repentant”, points to the fact that Allah is Forbearer toward His servants because of their submissiveness to Him, as the creator likes the best for its creation. Ibn Ashur: 25/90.
Question: In this verse, why is the term: (His servants) used instead of the people, or the repentant?

Ash-Shura Verses 0 - 27

۞وَلَوۡ بَسَطَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِعِبَادِهِۦ لَبَغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَٰكِن يُنَزِّلُ بِقَدَرٖ مَّا يَشَآءُۚ إِنَّهُۥ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيرُۢ بَصِيرٞ ٢٧

Allah may know that when He extends His provision to one of His servants, it will lead him to corruption; therefore, in the interest of His servant, Allah withholds some worldly gains from him. So, the restriction of provision does not mean humiliation, nor does its extension mean honor. It is narrated that Allah says, "There are some among my believing servants who ask Me for a certain act of worship that I know if I give that to him, he will be boastful. There are some among my believing servants whose affairs can be set in order only when he is prosperous, and if I restrict his provision, he will become corrupt. There are some among my believing servants whose affairs can be set in order only when he is indigent, and if I extend his provision, he will become corrupt." Al-Qurtubi: 18/475.
Question: Is the extension of provision good for man at all times?

Ash-Shura Verses 0 - 28

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡغَيۡثَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا قَنَطُواْ وَيَنشُرُ رَحۡمَتَهُۥۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡوَلِيُّ ٱلۡحَمِيدُ ٢٨

Among worldly blessings, sending down the rain is singled out for mention because there is no dispute among people that it is the basis for the continuation of life by providing sustenance for people and other creatures. Ibn Ashur: 25/95.
Question: After mentioning the general provision, sending down the rain is singled out for mention. Why?

Ash-Shura Verses 0 - 28

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ ٱلۡغَيۡثَ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا قَنَطُواْ وَيَنشُرُ رَحۡمَتَهُۥۚ وَهُوَ ٱلۡوَلِيُّ ٱلۡحَمِيدُ ٢٨

These two attributes: (The Guardian, the Praiseworthy) are mentioned because they are suited to the subject of providing relief to people, where (the Guardian) is kind to those whom he guards, and (the Praiseworthy) gives that which he is praised for. Ibn Ashur: 25/96.
Question: The attributes, (the Guardian, the Praiseworthy) are suited for the subject here. Explain.

Ash-Shura Verses 0 - 30

وَمَآ أَصَٰبَكُم مِّن مُّصِيبَةٖ فَبِمَا كَسَبَتۡ أَيۡدِيكُمۡ وَيَعۡفُواْ عَن كَثِيرٖ ٣٠

Meaning: The afflictions that befall people's bodies and wealth are due to their sins. Ibn Juzay: 2/303.
Question: What do think about those who say that calamities have natural reasons, and that sins are not part of that?
