If someone asks: What is the link between mentioning the Hour with the Book and justice? The answer is: The Hour will be the Day of Recompense and Account. It is as if saying: Be just and do the right thing before the Day on which you will be held accountable for your deeds. Ibn Juzay: 2/300.
Question: The mention the Hour comes after the Book and justice. Why?
Meaning: They are afraid because of their belief in it and their knowledge of what it will involve of requital for deeds. Their fear is due to their knowledge of their Lord, for they fear that their deeds will not save them or lead them to a place of happiness. Al-Saadi: 756.
Question: The believers are fearful of the Hour. Why?
Another aspect of His kindness is that He has provided to His servant every means that may form a barrier between him and sins, to the extent that if Allah knows that worldly gain, wealth, headship and other things for which people compete in this world could cause His servant to turn away from obedience to Him, or make him negligent or lead him into sin, He diverts it from him and restricts his provision. Hence, He says here: (He gives provision to whom He wills). Al-Saadi: 757.
Question: Allah mentions His giving of provision after His kindness to His servants. Why?
These two attributes: (The All-Powerful, the All-Mighty) are exaltation of Allah, and are mentioned right after the attribute of (Kind), or after this sentence, (He gives provision to whom He wills) to safeguard against giving the wrong impression to one who may misunderstand that Allah’s Kindness is out of weakness or persuasion, or that giving provision to whom He wills may be construed as stinginess or deficiency. Rather, He is not weak nor does He need to persuade anyone; He is the All-Powerful, hence, there are no causes for stinginess, and He is the All-Mighty, hence, there is no cause for poverty. His specific provision to whom He wills is based on His wisdom of knowing the states (general and specific) of His servants. Ibn Ashur: 25/73.
Question: (The All-Powerful, the All-Mighty) are mentioned right after the attribute of (Kind). Why?
Muhammad bin Ali Al-Kattani said: He is kind to those of His servants who seek refuge with Him, when they despair of others, rely, and return to Him, then Allah will turn to them and accept them. Other interpretations are listed here: The One Who spreads the good deeds of His servants and hides their faults. The One Who accepts the small deeds and gives plenitude. The One Who mends the broken hearts and relieves the hardship. The One Who does not haste to punish those who disobey Him, nor does He disappoint those who hope for His mercy. The One Who answers those who supplicate Him, and does not despair those who seek Him. The One Who forgives those who slip. The One Who is merciful toward those who are not merciful to themselves. Al-Qurtubi: 18/459-461
Question: What do you know about the kindness of Allah?
Meaning: Whoever sought the reward of the Hereafter through using the provision We provided for Him by giving others what is rightfully theirs, and spending in support of the religion, We Will reward him ten to seven hundred times and more for what he spent. Al-Qurtubi: 18/461.
Question: What is meant by (We will increase for him his harvest)?
One of the subtleties of this description is that it comes in accordance with the familiar order of things. When a guest arrives, first, he is provided with a good place to rest, then food and drinks are brought to him, then, the host gets nearer and mixes with him. Ibn Ashur: 25/79.
Question: This verse describes three stages of hospitality for the believers in Paradise. Explain.
