Allah reveals the nature of man and that he has no patience to deal with either times of ease or times of hardship, except those whom Allah helps to attain perfection. Al-Saadi: 752. Question: Your body and heart are vulnerable. Explain this fact and its remedy in light of this verse.

Fussilat Verses 49 - 50

Man is described by two dreadful traits: When touched by evil, he becomes despairing and despondent; and when good fortune comes his way, he forgets that Allah is the Bestower, and becomes insolent, believing that he deserved this good fortune. Moreover, he denies the resurrection (and I do not think the Hour will occur), adding his false premise that if he is resurrected, he will receive the best from his Lord. Surely, this leaves no more room for ignorance and conceit. Ibn Al-Qayim: 2/420.
Question: What are the two dreadful traits that one can have when touched by evil and good fortune?

Fussilat Verses 0 - 51

(He is full of extensive supplication): Because he has no patience, he does not show patience during times of hardship and does not show gratitude during times of ease, except those whom Allah guides and blesses. Al-Saadi: 752
Question: How should the believer react during times of affliction and prosperity?

Fussilat Verses 0 - 51

The Quran teaches us to venerate Allah by not attributing evil to Him, as Abraham said, (Who created me, so He guides me), until he said, (and when I am ill He heals me) [26:78-80]. He did not say, "When He makes me ill", and there is a secret to this, which is that blessings and good fortune are subjected to man in the essence of his creation, and they are mostly in his life because they maintain his survival. Evil and afflictions befall him mostly due to his misdeeds and transgressions against the limits that divine Sharias and wise men [Prophets] warned him against; hence, he seldom falls into them except by his knowledge and audacity. Ibn Ashur: 25/15.
Question: The verse does not attribute evil to Allah. Why? How does evil afflict man?

Fussilat Verses 0 - 53

Meaning: The Quran is true, and Allah makes clear that He will definitely show them some of His witnessed signs to prove the trueness of His recited verses. Ibn Al-Qayim: 2/420.
Question: Allah's signs in the universe and within the soul prove the trueness of the Quran. Explain in light of this verse.

Fussilat Verses 0 - 53

Part of the inimitable nature of the Quran is relating things from the unseen, as this verse reveals. It informs about the promise of victory of this religion through Allah's empowerment of His Messenger (ﷺ) and his Caliphs afterward in conquering the east and west of the land. Despite its small size army, the Muslim nation’s stability and influence on others, the likes of which had never been attained by kings, Caesars, or emperors. The spreading of Muslims and their dominance over other nations was historically unprecedented, which indicates that Islam is the truth and that when Muslims adhere to its principles, they receive Allah's victory in a remarkable way. The former and latter people attest to this fact. Ibn Ashur: 25/18.
Question: This verse relates an inimitable news from the unseen. Explain.

Fussilat Verses 0 - 54

Omar bin Abdulaziz (t) ascended the pulpit and praised Allah, then said: "O people, I did not gather you to originate something, but I have thought about the end that all people are going to meet. I came to realize that the one who believes this meeting is a fool, and the one who denies it is doomed." Then, he came down from the pulpit. The meaning of "the one who believes this meeting is a fool" is that he does not do good deeds, nor does he fear its terror, even though he believes in it and is sure of its occurrence. However, despite all that, he persists in his diversion, heedlessness, and sins hence, he is a fool in this regard, and, linguistically speaking, a fool is defined as a weak-minded person. Ibn Kathir: 4/107.
Question: The actions of some of those who believe in the Day of Resurrection reflect that they are in doubt about it. Explain.
