Ghafir Verses 0 - 50

Meaning: Just as you managed to turn away from the messengers before, manage your affairs today and pray. Ibn Ashur: 24/166.
Question: Telling the polytheists to pray for themselves is linked to what precedes it. How?

Ghafir Verses 0 - 50

It is invalid and worthless because disbelief nullifies all good deeds and prevents any answer to supplication. Al-Saadi: 739.
Question: Mention some of the bad consequences for the disbelievers due to their disbelief.

Ghafir Verses 0 - 51

Ibn Abbas (k) said: By victory and empowerment. Ad-Dahhak said: By evidence [in this world], and absolution in the Hereafter. Moreover, it is said that by retaliating from the enemies in this world and the Hereafter. All of that had occurred with the Prophets and believers; they were supported by the evidence against those who opposed them. Allah has empowered them over those who fought them, and He avenged their death, similar to what happened with John, the son of Zachariah, when he was killed, seventy thousand were killed to avenge his death. Hence, they are helped by any of these means. Al-Baghawi: 4/47.
Question: Is victory limited to the Messengers? Is victory limited to overpowering the enemy?

Ghafir Verses 0 - 53

This is one of the clearest examples of Allah’s help to His Messengers and the believers, and it closely resembles the victory that Allah has decreed for the Prophet (ﷺ) and the believers. By the victory of Moses over the Pharaohs, Allah had given rise to a great nation that no one would consider without such a victory. It was given a great Sharia and kingdom. Similarly, the victory of the Prophet (ﷺ) and the believers was even greater, more thorough, and nobler. Ibn Ashur: 24/169.
Question: The story of Moses is one of the clearest examples of Allah’s help to the believers. How?

Ghafir Verses 0 - 56

Meaning: Their arrogance and false pride prevented them from following and obeying you. Ibn Juzay: 2/283.
Question: What was the reason that prevented the disbelievers from following the Prophet (ﷺ)?

Ghafir Verses 0 - 56

(Without evidence), this exception serves as a disparagement of their dispute, as disputing against the signs of Allah can only be done without evidence, because they do not contradict reality. This exception is similar to the exception in this verse, (Who is more astray than one who follows his desire without guidance from Allah) [28:50]. Ibn Ashur: 24/173.
Question: What is the purpose of making exception to the dispute against the signs of Allah?

Ghafir Verses 0 - 58

The mention of the blind comes before the seeing, even though sight is nobler than blindness to the same person; moreover, those who are likened to the seeing (the believers) are nobler than those who are likened to the blind (the disbelievers), yet the mention of the like of disbelievers comes first to show the state of those who dispute against the signs of Allah, since they are the ones aimed by this admonishment. Ibn Ashur: 24/178.
Question: The mention of the blind comes before the seeing, even though the seeing is nobler. Why?
