Apparently, the wisdom behind having multiple and different kinds of birds is to further realize that bringing the dead back to life is not affected by the number of birds or their kind. Ibn Ashur: 3/39.
Question: Why were the dead birds more than one, and from different kinds?
The reward will be according to the condition of the spender, his sincerity, truthfulness, and how beneficial and appropriate the spending is. Al-Saadi: 113.
Question: What makes the reward for a good deed multiply?
Reminding of charity spoils its reward, and it is forbidden because only Allah reminds of His favors since all blessings come from Him. Hence, the individual must not remind others of something that came about as a result of Allah's kindness and grace, and did not come from him. Moreover, reminding another of one's favor is like enslaving him, whereas humbleness and servitude can only be to Allah. Al-Saadi: 113.
Question: Why does reminding of charity spoil its reward?
(Kind words): Is to respond to one who asks for charity with pleasant words such as praying for him and saying nice words. (And forgiveness): Pardon him for any harshness. It has also been said that it is the forgiveness from Allah to you for your pleasant response. Ibn Juzay: 1/172.
Question: This verse contains an example of the high moral standards in Islam. Explain.
(Most Forbearing): Allah does not hasten to punish one who disobeys Him, rather, He continues to provide him with sustenance and support while this person continues to disobey and disbelieve in Him. Al-Biqai: 1/517.
Question: The verse concludes with this attribute of Allah: (Most Forbearing). Why?
Here is an indication that both showing off and reminding of charity are characteristics of the disbelievers, which must be avoided by the believers. Al-Alusi: 3/35.
Question: What is the difference between the charity of a sincere person and that of a person who shows off?
This proves that bad deeds nullify good deeds. Just as good deeds erase bad ones, bad deeds nullify the good deeds that came before them. Al-Saadi: 113.
Question: The verse indicates the seriousness of bad deeds. Explain.
