ﭝ ﭞ ﭟ ٤٢ ٤٢ ﭡ ﭢ ﭣ ﭤ ﭥ
ﭦ ﭧ ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ﭯ ﭰ ﭱ ٤٣ ٤٣ ﭳ
ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ ﭺ ﭻ ﭼ ٤٤ ٤٤
ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂ ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈ
ﮉ ٤٥ ٤٥ ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ﮎ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ
ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ ﮙ ﮚ
ﮛ ٤٦ ٤٦ ﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ ﮢ ﮣ ﮤ
ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ ﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ
ﮯ ٤٧ ٤٧ ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ ﯕ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ
ﯙ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ ﯟ ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ
ﯣ ﯤ ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﯬ ﯭ ﯮ
٤٨ ٤٨ ﯰ ﯱ ﯲ ﯳ ﯴ ﯵ ﯶ ﯷ ﯸ ﯹ
٤٩ ٤٩ ﯻ ﯼ ﯽ ﯾ ﯿ ﰀ ﰁ ﰂ ﰃ ﰄ ﰅ
ﰆ ﰇ ﰈ ﰉ ﰊ ﰋ ﰌ ﰍ ﰎ ﰏ ٥٠ ٥٠
قُلۡ سِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ
The command to travel through the land includes both physical travel and mental or intellectual travel in the sense of pondering the fate of earlier nations. Al-Saadi: 643.
Question: Is travel through the land limited to physical movement?
فَٱنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلُۚ كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّشۡرِكِينَ ٤٢
Hence, beware of doing what they did, lest you meet the same fate, for the justice and wisdom of Allah are applicable at all times and places. Al-Saadi: 643.
Question: What is the benefit that one may gain by reflecting on the fate of those before him?
قُلۡ سِيرُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنظُرُواْ كَيۡفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلُۚ كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّشۡرِكِينَ ٤٢
(Most of them associated partners with Allah): This indicates that shirk alone was not the cause for destroying all, but rather most of them. Lesser sins than shirk caused the destruction of few of them. Moreover, this may indicate that their demise was due to the spread of shirk among them, where it became dominant. This signifies the risk of shirk and the fact that it is a trial that will not only befall the wrongdoers. Al-Alusi: 11/49.
Question: What are the causes for the destruction of nations? Which is the most serious one?
إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٤٥
Yet, He is the Just with them who never transgresses.Ibn Kathir: 3/420.
Question: Does disliking someone justify injustice?
وَمِنۡ ءَايَٰتِهِۦٓ أَن يُرۡسِلَ ٱلرِّيَاحَ مُبَشِّرَٰتٖ وَلِيُذِيقَكُم مِّن رَّحۡمَتِهِۦ
He sends the rain to you to revive the land and people, and gives you a foretaste of His mercy so you know that it is His mercy that saves people and grants them provision, and thus you will be motivated to do more righteous deeds, by means of which the treasure of His mercy may be opened up for you. Al-Saadi: 643.
Question: How does tasting Allah’s mercy influence the Muslims?
وَلَقَدۡ أَرۡسَلۡنَا مِن قَبۡلِكَ رُسُلًا إِلَىٰ قَوۡمِهِمۡ فَجَآءُوهُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِ فَٱنتَقَمۡنَا مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَجۡرَمُواْۖ وَكَانَ حَقًّا عَلَيۡنَا نَصۡرُ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِينَ ٤٧
(And it is incumbent upon Us to help the believers), and save them from destruction. This gave glad tidings to the Prophet (ﷺ) of victory over the enemies. Alhasan said: "He saved the believers with the Messengers from the destruction of nations." Al-Baghawi: 3/500.
Question: Does the lengthy dominance of people of falsehood justify the believer’s despair? Explain in light of this verse.
وَإِن كَانُواْ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يُنَزَّلَ عَلَيۡهِم مِّن قَبۡلِهِۦ لَمُبۡلِسِينَ ٤٩ فَٱنظُرۡ إِلَىٰٓ ءَاثَٰرِ رَحۡمَتِ ٱللَّهِ كَيۡفَ يُحۡيِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ مَوۡتِهَآۚ إِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ لَمُحۡيِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ ٥٠
This word: (Before), is repeated for confirmation, and to indicate the quickness of which people’s hearts can shift from despair to hope. Ibn Juzay: 2/170.
Question: This word: (Before), is repeated twice in the same verse. Why?
