Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 238

Allah will give one a share of this life if his intention is directed toward the Hereafter, but will He will not give him a share of the Hereafter if his intention is directed to this life. The defect in a person's condition in this world and the Hereafter is due to a flaw in his religion. The foundation of his religion and faith is his prayers, therefore, if he maintains the prayers, Allah will mend his life in this world and the Hereafter. Al-Biqai: 1/450.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 238

Some scholars said: The middle prayer is not a particular one but it is one of the five daily prayers. Allah concealed it in order to encourage the believers to continue to maintain all prayers, just as He concealed the Night of Al-Qadr in the month of Ramadan, the hour of answering supplications on Fridays, and His greatest Name so that the believers would maintain all of them. Al-Baghawi: 1/252.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 239

This implies that this may be done whether one is facing the Qiblah or not; this further emphasizes the importance of offering prayer on time, as this is enjoined even if it means omitting some of the essential parts or conditions, or not doing them. It is not permissible to delay the prayer until after the time for it has ended even in these extreme circumstances. Performing the prayer in that [imperfect] manner is better and preferable, and even more obligatory than offering it in safety and calm manner outside its prescribed time. Al-Saadi: 106.
Question: What does the command to pray, whether walking or riding, in case of fear indicate?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 243

The purpose of this noble verse is to encourage the believers to fight their enemies by informing them that fleeing from death does not really save them. If a person knows that his decision to avoid death or being killed will not save him, then it will be easy for him to hit the battlefield and confront the enemy. Al-Shanqiti: 1/152.
Question: What is the purpose of this verse?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 243

Allah mentions this story to encourage Muslims to wage Jihad and be exposed to martyrdom. He urges them to rely on Him and be submissive to His Will as a prelude to commanding them in the next verse: (And fight in the cause of Allah). Al-Alusi: 2/162.
Question: Allah mentions this story before commanding the believers to fight their enemies. Why?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 245

A question that is intended to encourage the believers to spend their money. The term (loan) is used to bring closer to their minds that they should expect a reward just as the lender expects its return. Ibn Juzay: 1/118.
