Al-Hajj Verses 0 - 57

(A humiliating punishment) that will be severe and painful for them, and will reach their hearts. As they tried to humiliate His Messengers, and ridicule His revelations, Allah will humiliate them with the punishment. Al-Saadi: 543.
Question: How will Allah punish the criminals with a befitting recompense for their deeds?

Al-Hajj Verses 0 - 58

Those who emigrated for the cause of Allah, and then were killed or died are singled out for mention to allude to the importance of migration for the cause of Allah. Ibn Ashur: 17/309.
Question: Those who emigrated for the cause of Allah are singled out for mention, even though they are included in the description of the believers in previous verses. Why?

Al-Hajj Verses 0 - 58

Allah describes those who left their homes and families for His sake and pleasure, and for fighting against His enemies, then they were killed or died in doing so - that He will provide for them, on the Day of Resurrection, in His Paradise a good provision which is a generous one. Al-Tabari: 18/673.
Question: When is leaving one's homeland considered a good deed?

Al-Hajj Verses 0 - 60

(Allah is Ever-Pardoning, All-Forgiving), if it is said: How is mentioning these two of Allah's Names relevant to punishment? The answer is two-fold, first: Mentioning these two names indicates that pardon is better than punishment; it is like a call for pardon. Second: Mentioning these two names indicates Allah's pardon of the wronged person when he retaliates. Ibn Juzay: 2/62.
Question: The verse concludes with (Allah is Ever-Pardoning, All-Forgiving). Why?

Al-Hajj Verses 0 - 60

This is how Allah always is, and this is how He deals with His servants at all times, offering pardon and forgiveness. Therefore, you who have been wronged and mistreated should pardon, overlook and forgive so that Allah may treat you as you treated His servants; (Whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is with Allah) [42:40]. Al-Saadi: 543.
Question: What do you benefit from knowing that Allah is Ever-Pardoning, All-Forgiving?

Al-Hajj Verses 0 - 61

Victory necessitates the overpowering of one side over the other, and driving one army into the other during battle. It is used here as an example of extending the daytime longer than that of nighttime during some parts of the year, and extending the nighttime longer than that of daytime during other parts of the year. Ibn Ashur: 17/314.
Question: People are changing from victory to defeat. How does this verse exemplify this meaning?

Al-Hajj Verses 0 - 62

As a sign of His pride, the purpose of all acts of worship done by the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth is to magnify Him, glorify Him, venerate Him and honor Him. Hence, Takbir (saying, Allah is Most Great) is the initiation of major acts of worship such as prayer and others. Al-Saadi: 544.
Question: Why is Takbir used in the initiation of major acts of worship?
