(So that He may make what satan casts a trial), for two groups of people about whom Allah does not care. They are (those whose hearts are sick), which is a weakness or lack of perfect faith and firm belief, hence, the slightest doubt that occurs to them may shake their faith. When they hear what satan throws in, they begin to doubt, and it becomes a test for them. (And those whose hearts are hardened), rigid, not influenced by rebukes or reminders, and they do not understand what Allah and His Messengers say because of their hardheartedness. Hence, what satan throws in becomes a trial of these two groups, thus, exposing what is in their hearts of concealed evil. As for the third group, it is a mercy in their case. They are the ones who are mentioned in this verse: (And so that those who were given knowledge may know that this [Quran] is the truth from your Lord), because Allah has blessed them with knowledge through which they recognize the truth as distinct from falsehood, and guidance as distinct from misguidance. Hence, they distinguish between the two matters. Al-Saadi: 542.
Question: When facing doubts, people become divided into three groups. What are they?

Al-Hajj Verses 53 - 54
