(The sun, the moon, the stars), these are mentioned by name, because they are worshiped besides Allah, hence, Allah explains that they too prostrate to their Creator and that they are subjected to Him. Ibn Kathir: 3/205.
Question: The sun, the moon, and the stars are singled out for mention. Why?
There is not an inanimate object except that it is obedient, humble, and glorifies Allah, just as Allah says about heavens and earth when they said: (We come willingly) [41:11]. And when describing the stones, Allah says, (And there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allah) [2:74]. Moreover, Allah says, (There is not a single thing that does not glorify Him with His praise, but you do not understand their glorification) [17:44]. Al-Baghawi: 3/206.
Question: Do all creatures worship Allah? What do we learn from that?
Everything prostrates to His might, willingly or unwillingly, and everything prostrates in a manner that befits its nature. Ibn Kathir: 3/205.
Question: How do creatures prostrate to Allah?
Allah, the Almighty, says that whomever, among His creation, He disgraces and makes him wretched (none can honor him) with blissful life, because all matters are in the Hand of Allah. He guides whomever He wills to His obedience, and forsaken whomever He wills. He distresses whomever He wills, and pleases whomever He wills. (Allah surely does what He wills), Allah does with His creation whatever He wants; He honors whomever He wills, and disgraces whomever He wills because His is the creation and the command. Al-Tabari: 18/587.
Question: Who, truly, owns the honoring and disgracing? Why?
Saeed bin Jubair said: "Garments of molten copper, which is the hottest of all metals, and they are called garments because they surround the disbelievers from all sides just like clothes." Some scholars said: "The dwellers of Hellfire wear pieces of fire." Al-Baghawi: 3/209.
Question: How will Hellfire become garments for its dwellers?
This verse, (Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire) is similar to this verse (Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny) [32:20]; meaning that they will be humiliated by words and actions. Ibn Kathir: 3/207.
Question: While they will be tortured in Hellfire, they will be told: (Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire). Why?
This is in contrast to the garments of fire worn by the inhabitants of Hell. Ibn Kathir: 3/207.
Question: What is the reason for mentioning the garments in Paradise?
