(Relatives) and what follows in this verse are arranged in order of priority based on importance, because charity given to relatives is charity and a bond of kinship, unlike those who come after them. The (orphans) come next due to their young age and need. Then, comes (the needy) for their poverty; (the traveler) who is a stranger or weak, and (those who ask for help) even if they are not in real need. Ibn Juzay: 1/95.
Question: The verse focuses on priorities and what is most important. Explain.

When a person gives of his wealth, despite his love for it, in order to draw closer to Allah, it is proof of his faith. Part of giving one's wealth despite his love for it is to give charity when one is healthy and inclined to be stingy, hoping for wealth and fearing poverty. Similarly, giving charity when one does not have much is better, since in this case he loves to keep it because of what is expected of need and poverty. Likewise, giving for charity out of the precious part of one's wealth, and what he loves most. Al-Saadi: 83.
Question: State some examples of giving wealth despite one's love for it.

That is: Those who are characterized by these qualities are truthful in their faith because they have realized the faith in their hearts in words and deeds. Hence, they are the truthful and righteous ones since they avoided prohibitions and performed acts of obedience. Ibn Kathir: 1/198.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 177

Allah recommends that the pardoner to be lenient when requesting blood money and allows the pardoned person more time if he is insolvent. Moreover, it is recommended that the pardoned not to delay the pardoner's payment or reduce the agreed upon amount, and to pay it when possible. Al-Alusi: 2/50.

(And in the legal retribution, there is saving of life for you), similar in meaning to the famous Arabic saying, "Killing negates further killing." legal retribution deters people from further killings because it is killing one person for one person, unlike what was done in the pre-Islamic period where if a person was killed, his tribe fought against the killer's tribe until a group of people were killed because of it. Ibn Juzay: 1/96.
Question: How can legal retribution save lives?
