An-Nahl Verses 0 - 8

Meaning: Sometimes you use them for necessary purposes, such as riding, and sometimes you use them for the sake of beauty and adornment. No mention is made of eating because it is prohibited to eat mules and donkeys; horses are not usually used as food. Al-Saadi: 436.
Question: Why is eating not mentioned as a benefit of these animals?

An-Nahl Verses 0 - 8

(And He creates other things that you do not know), which would come about after the revelation of the Quran, in which people ride on land, sea, and air, and that they use for their own benefit and in their interests. They are not mentioned in specific terms because Allah does not mention in His Book anything but what people know, or they know something similar to it. As for that which they had no comparison, if He had mentioned them they would not have known them or understood what was meant by them. Thus, He mentions that in very general terms which may include what they know and what they do not know. The same may be said concerning the way in which He mentions the blessings of Paradise; He mentions by name those which we know or see something similar, such as palm trees, grapes and pomegranates, and He refers in general terms to those of which we know no comparison. Al-Saadi: 436.
Question: In light of this verse, what is the style of the Quran in describing the unseen blessings?

An-Nahl Verses 8 - 9

When Allah mentioned the animals that may be used for the purpose of physical journeys, He also referred to the moral and religious routes that people may follow. Often in the Quran, there is a shift from physical or tangible things to beneficial spiritual and religious matters. Ibn Kathir: 2/544.
Question: What is the link between the above-mentioned verses?

An-Nahl Verses 0 - 9

When Allah mentions easing the ways for people to reach their material objectives, He reminds of the ways that lead to the spiritual objective which is the path to guidance Thus, His caring to show the ways to the path of guidance is a greater blessing than easing the ways to material objectives, as the path of guidance leads to eternal pleasure. Ibn Ashur: 14/112.
Question: Which is a greater blessing: The material or the spiritual one? Why?

An-Nahl Verses 0 - 9

(It is upon Allah to show the straight path), it is upon Allah to show the way to guidance by presenting the evidence, and sending of messengers. Ibn Juzay: 1/459.
Question: Allah’s mercy is indicated in this verse. Explain.

Subjection of the sea is enabling people to use it for ferrying and docking, which is a blessing from Allah upon us, but if He had willed, He could have empowered the sea to drown us. Al-Qurtubi: 12/294.
