This calls the observers to reflect upon it, contemplate its significance, and see the indications of its Creator. Al-Saadi: 430.
Question: How do great stars and their positions increase the believer's faith?
Meaning: We have made it spacious and have made both humans and animals able to move about, seeking their provision and settling in various spots. Al-Saadi: 430.
Question: The belief that provisions on Earth will not suffice all the people in the future is considered a negative assumption about Allah. Explain in light of this verse.
(And We have already known the preceding among you, and We have already known the later), the past and future generations of people. This is mentioned to indicate their gathering on the Last Day which is in the next verse, (and your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing), since He has encompassed them in knowledge, it will not be difficult for Him to resurrect and gather them. Ibn Juzay: 1/451.
Question: What is the link between these two verses: (And We have already known the preceding among you) and (and your Lord will gather them)?
The verse is intended to point out the noble nature, good essence and pure origin of Adam (u). Ibn Kathir: 2/531.
Question: The creations of man and jinn are mentioned together. Why?
Commanding the angels to prostrate to Adam (u) does not contradict the prohibition of prostrating to other than Allah in Islam for these points, First: The prohibition is placed to block the means to committing shirk, however, the angels are infallible, so shirk would not be possible. Second: Islamic Sharia has the distinction of reaching the highest limits of truth and goodness, hence its ordinances far exceed those of previous Sharias because Allah intends for its followers to attain optimal awareness. Third: This event occurred in the higher world of which its rules do not apply to our world. Ibn Ashur: 14/45.
Question: Commanding the angels to prostrate to Adam (u) does not contradict the prohibition of prostrating to other than Allah in Islam for some points. What are they?
Adam (u) was created out of clay, and was honored because Allah had breathed into him of His spirit; this is why Allah says, (when I have shaped him and breathed into him of My spirit, then fall down before him in prostration), so the prostration was hinged on the breathing into him of Allah's spirit, hence the favoring of Adam (u) was due to this honor which Iblis does not have. Ibn Taimyah: 4/125.
Question: Explain the reason for favoring Adam (u) above others in light of this verse.
Here, Allah mentions the blessings that He bestowed upon our father Adam (u) and what happened with his enemy Iblis, including a warning to us of his evil and temptation. Al-Saadi: 431.
Question: What is the aim of the detailed narration of the creation of Adam (u) and the stance of Iblis?
