Yusuf Verses 0 - 46

He described him as a (man of truth) since he knew him well when he was with him in prison. This is also a guidance for one who asks for a religious opinion "fatwa" to show respect for the scholar, "mufti", who delivers it. Al-Alusi: 12/604.

Knowledge of dream interpretation is one of the branches of Islamic knowledge, and the person will be rewarded for learning and teaching it. Dream interpretation is like delivering a "fatwa" because the Arabic word used in the Quran’s text for (tell us) is "give us a fatwa." Hence, it is not permissible to try to interpret dreams without knowledge. Al-Saadi: 410.
Question: What is Sharia rule on dream interpretation? How do you infer your answer?

Joseph (u) did not mention the chief minister's wife -showing gratitude to him and covering up the fault of his wife, rather he mentioned the women who cut their hands. Ibn Juzay: 1/418.
Question: Joseph's (u) request to ask the women before leaving prison indicated his wisdom and forbearance. Explain.

Yusuf Verses 0 - 50

Ibn Atiyah said: Joseph (u) was concerned that when he gets out of prison to be honored by the king who would be silent about his case and pardons him, then people would always see him as the guilty of seducing his master's wife but was freed by the king. So, he wanted to assert his innocence, and regain his high status of chasteness and goodness; then leave the prison to be honored. That is why he said to messenger: Return to your master and ask him what is the case of the women. Al-Qurtubi: 11/372.
Question: Explain the wisdom and endurance behind Joseph's (u) request to re-open his case.

Yusuf Verses 0 - 50

This story highlights the virtue of knowledge, namely knowledge of rulings, laws, dream interpretation, management and education; it indicates that knowledge is superior to having a good image, even if it is as beautiful as Joseph was. Because of his beauty, Joseph went through all these trials and was imprisoned, but because of his knowledge, he attained honor and high status, and was established in the land. All that is good in this world and in the Hereafter is the result and consequences of knowledge. Al-Saadi: 410.
Question: In light of the story of Joseph (u), compare between knowledge and outer beauty.
