Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 148

The one who takes this initiative in this world will be the first to attain Paradise in the Hereafter, and those who are foremost in the race will be the highest in status. This verse is used as evidence for doing all kinds of good deeds, such as offering prayer on time; hastening to do what is required of fasting, Hajj, Umrah and paying zakah; offering Sunnah acts of worship and so on. How comprehensive and beneficial this verse is!! Al-Saadi: 73.
Question: This verse has few words with ample meanings. Explain.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 149

Whoever turns his heart in his prayer to other than his Lord, his body's direction toward the Ka'ba will not benefit him, because that is a true ruling, the reality of which is the direction of the heart. Therefore, whoever turns his heart toward any of the creation in his prayer is like someone whose face has been turned away from his Qiblah. Al-Biqai: 1/272.
Question: What is truth about turning toward the Qiblah in prayer? And why?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 152

Every remembrance of Allah has its own characteristic and fruit. Tahlīl is saying: (No deity is worthy of worship but Allah) results in acquiring Tawhīd. I mean specific monotheism, as general monotheism is attained by all believers. Takbīr is saying, (Allah Akbar) results in glorification and veneration of the Most High. As for the praise and names that mean benevolence and mercy, such as the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, the Most Generous, the Most Forgiving, and the like result in acquiring three levels of heart deeds: Gratitude, strength of hope, and love of Allah since every doer of good is surely loved. Ibn Juzay: 1/88.
Question: For every remembrance, there is a fruitful result in the heart. Explain.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 152

Every remembrance of Allah has its own characteristic and fruit. As for holy Names signifying knowledge and awareness such as The All-Knowing, the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing, the Near, etc., their fruit is observance. Praying for Allah's blessings upon the Prophet (r) results in intense love for him and maintaining adherence to his Sunnah. Asking for Allah's forgiveness results in steadfastness in righteousness, and preservation of the conditions of repentance while maintaining humbleness due to past sins. Ibn Juzay: 1/88. Question: What are the results of remembering Allah by His Names: The All-Hearing, the All-Seeing and the Near?

Al-Baqarah Verses 152 - 153

After Allah commands that He be offered gratitude, He ordains patience and prayer. The servant is either in a blessing for which he is grateful, or in a calamity for which he endures patiently. Ibn Kathir: 1/187.
Question: The servant of Allah experiences two states. What are they? What is his duty during each state?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 153

If a servant's prayer is complete, combining what is required and what is recommended, and it is done with the presence of heart, then there is no doubt that this prayer is one of the greatest aids in all his affairs. For prayer restrains one from immorality and wrongdoing, because this presence that occurs during prayer creates in the servant's heart a quality that leads him to comply with his Lord's commands and heed His prohibitions. This is the prayer through which Allah has enjoined us to seek help in all our affairs. Al-Saadi: 75.
Question: How does the prayer help one comply with his Lord's commands and heed His prohibitions?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 153

(Allah is with those), this is indicative of Allah's love, help, support and closeness, and it is a great privilege that is bestowed upon those who are patient. If those who are patient did not have any virtue other than the fact that Allah is with them, it would be sufficient honor and privilege for them. Al-Saadi: 75.
Question: What is the meaning of this statement (Allah is with those)? Who are worthy of it? Explain.
