Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 142

A wise person pays no attention to the objections of a fool and does not worry about him. This verse indicates that no one objects to the rulings of Allah but one who is foolish, ignorant and stubborn. As for the wise and rational believer, he accepts the rulings of his Lord and submits to them, as Allah says, (It is not fitting for any believing man or believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided concerning a matter, to have any choice in that matter) [33:36]. (But no, by your Lord, they will not [truly] believe until they make you [O Muhammad] judge in all disputes between them, then find in their hearts no reservations about your verdicts, but accept them wholeheartedly) [4:65]. Al-Saadi: 70.
Question: What is the true believer's position on Islamic rulings?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 142

Informing Muslims about something that is yet to occur in order to ease its impact on them when it happens, since being aware of an unpleasant thing ahead of time makes it less disruptive. Moreover, it enables Muslims to confute their adversaries. Al-Alusi: 2/2.
Question: Allah informed Muslims about what would be said before its occurrence. Why?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 142

The fact that Allah describes them as (foolish) is sufficient to reject what they say, with no need for further refutation. But Allah did not leave this specious argument without dispelling it and highlighting the flaws in the argument that may influence some people. Hence, He said, (Say: To Allah belong the east and the west). Al-Saadi: 70.
Question: Is it sufficient to call those who object to Islamic rulings "fools" without refuting their weak arguments?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 143

The word (Wasat), used in this verse, means the best and the most excellent. When Allah made this Ummah (Muslim nation) a (Wasat), He has distinguished it with the perfect laws, the best methods and the clearest beliefs. Ibn Kathir: 1/181.
Question: How does the verse indicate the superiority of Islam over other religions?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 145

Even if the Prophet (r) were to bring to the People of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) all the proofs to the truth of his Message, they would not follow him nor abandon their desires, as Allah says, (Indeed, those upon whom the decree of Allah is passed will not believe. even if every sign were to come to them, until they see the painful torment) [10:96]. That is why He says here, (And if you brought to those who were given the Scripture every sign, they would not follow your Qiblah). Ibn Kathir: 1/184.
Question: Guidance is a favor from Allah and not just a convincing of the mind. Explain.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 145

This shows that their opposition and obstinacy is not limited to you, but rather due to their nature of extreme obstinacy even among themselves. Al-Alusi: 2/12.
Question: Are the views and doubts of the disbelievers and hypocrites the result of logical thinking? Explain.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 145

Allah warns against a scholar who knows the truth yet he follows his desires, since his knowledge of the truth will be used as an argument against him in the Hereafter. Ibn Kathir: 1/184.
Question: Why is one's knowledge singled out for warning and threat?
