ﭛ ﭜ ﭝ ﭞ ﭟ ٣٢ ٣٢ ﭡ ﭢ ﭣ
ﭤ ﭥ ﭦ ﭧ ﭨ ﭩ ﭪ
ﭫ ﭬ ﭭ ﭮ ٣٣ ٣٣ ﭰ ﭱ ﭲ
ﭳ ﭴ ﭵ ﭶ ﭷ ﭸ ﭹ
ﭺ ﭻ ﭼ ﭽ ﭾ ﭿ ﮀ ﮁ ﮂ
ﮃ ﮄ ﮅ ﮆ ﮇ ﮈ
ﮉ ﮊ ﮋ ﮌ ﮍ ٣٤ ٣٤ ﮏ ﮐ ﮑ
ﮒ ﮓ ﮔ ﮕ ﮖ ﮗ ﮘ
ﮙ ﮚ ﮛ ﮜ ﮝ ﮞ ﮟ ﮠ ﮡ
ﮢ ٣٥ ٣٥ ﮤ ﮥ ﮦ ﮧ ﮨ ﮩ ﮪ
ﮫ ﮬ ﮭ ﮮ ﮯ ﮰ ﮱ ﯓ ﯔ
ﯕ ﯖ ﯗ ﯘ ﯙ ﯚ ﯛ ﯜ ﯝ ﯞ
ﯟ ﯠ ﯡ ﯢ ﯣ ﯤ
ﯥ ﯦ ﯧ ﯨ ﯩ ﯪ ﯫ ﯬ ٣٦ ٣٦
يُرِيدُونَ أَن يُطۡفِـُٔواْ نُورَ ٱللَّهِ بِأَفۡوَٰهِهِمۡ وَيَأۡبَى ٱللَّهُ إِلَّآ أَن يُتِمَّ نُورَهُۥ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ ٣٢
Attributing the light to the Holy Name of Allah indicates that their efforts to extinguish it are in vain, and they will never achieve their aim. Ibn Ashur: 10/172.
Question: What is the benefit of attributing the light to Allah?
هُوَ ٱلَّذِيٓ أَرۡسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِٱلۡهُدَىٰ وَدِينِ ٱلۡحَقِّ لِيُظۡهِرَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكُونَ ٣٣
Making it prevail over all religions to be the highest and more powerful of all religions, spreading in all regions of the east and west. Ibn Juzay: 1/356.
Question: In light of this verse, what do you say to one who despairs of the prevailing of Muslims?
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّ كَثِيرٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡأَحۡبَارِ وَٱلرُّهۡبَانِ لَيَأۡكُلُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۗ
This verse warns against corrupt scholars and misguided worshipers. Sufyan bin Uyaynah said: "Those among our scholars who become corrupt are similar to the Jews, while those among our worshipers who become misguided are like Christians." Ibn Kathir: 2/335.
Question: What is the aim of warning against the conduct of rabbis and monks?
يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّ كَثِيرٗا مِّنَ ٱلۡأَحۡبَارِ وَٱلرُّهۡبَانِ لَيَأۡكُلُونَ أَمۡوَٰلَ ٱلنَّاسِ بِٱلۡبَٰطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَٱلَّذِينَ يَكۡنِزُونَ ٱلذَّهَبَ وَٱلۡفِضَّةَ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٖ ٣٤
People rely on their scholars, worshipers and the wealthy among them, and when these groups of people become corrupt, the society in general becomes corrupt. Ibn Kathir: 2/335.
Question: Allah warns against rabbis (scholars), monks (worshipers) and the wealthy. Why?
وَٱلَّذِينَ يَكۡنِزُونَ ٱلذَّهَبَ وَٱلۡفِضَّةَ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَهَا فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٖ ٣٤ يَوۡمَ يُحۡمَىٰ عَلَيۡهَا فِي نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكۡوَىٰ بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمۡ وَجُنُوبُهُمۡ وَظُهُورُهُمۡۖ هَٰذَا مَا كَنَزۡتُمۡ لِأَنفُسِكُمۡ فَذُوقُواْ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَكۡنِزُونَ ٣٥
It is said that he who covets something and prefers it to Allah's obedience, will be punished with it. Because hoarding money was better to these people than Allah's pleasure, they were punished with it. Money was precious to those who hoarded it in this life; therefore, it will become most harmful to them in the Hereafter. Ibn Kathir: 2/336.
Question: He who covets a thing and prefers it to Allah's obedience, will be punished with it. Explain in the light of this verse.
إِنَّ عِدَّةَ ٱلشُّهُورِ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱثۡنَا عَشَرَ شَهۡرٗا فِي كِتَٰبِ ٱللَّهِ يَوۡمَ خَلَقَ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِنۡهَآ أَرۡبَعَةٌ حُرُمٞۚ
This verse indicates that it is obligatory to base the rulings in regard to acts of worship on the months and years known and used by the Arabs, (lunar-Hijri calendar), and not the calendars used by Persians, Romans or Copts. Al-Qurtubi: 10/197.
Question: There are many calls to replace Arabic months with others, what is the Quranic guidance in this regard?
وَقَٰتِلُواْ ٱلۡمُشۡرِكِينَ كَآفَّةٗ كَمَا يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمۡ كَآفَّةٗۚ وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مَعَ ٱلۡمُتَّقِينَ ٣٦
(And know that Allah is with those who fear Him) with His help, support and aid. So let them strive to fear Allah in secret and in public, and obey Him. Especially when fighting the disbelievers, for in that situation, the believer may not be as conscious of Allah as he should when dealing with the enemy disbelievers who are waging war. Al-Saadi: 336.
Question: After the command to fight the disbelievers, they are commanded to fear Allah. Why?
