Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 94

قُلۡ إِن كَانَتۡ لَكُمُ ٱلدَّارُ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَالِصَةٗ مِّن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُاْ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ ٩٤

Because whoever believes that he is among the people of Paradise, death is more beloved to him than life in this world since he will attain of the bliss of Paradise, and be relieved of the harm of worldly life. Al-Qurtubi: 2/257.
Question: Allah Commands the Jews to wish for death. Why?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 94

قُلۡ إِن كَانَتۡ لَكُمُ ٱلدَّارُ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَالِصَةٗ مِّن دُونِ ٱلنَّاسِ فَتَمَنَّوُاْ ٱلۡمَوۡتَ إِن كُنتُمۡ صَٰدِقِينَ ٩٤

Wishing for death can be a sign of the servant's good relation with his Lord and his hope to meet Him. The more the soul is averse to death, the weaker its attainment of the knowledge by which it finds comfort in its Lord, so it longs to meet Him and loves that. Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him. Al-Biqai: 1/200.
Question: What does it mean to wish to meet Allah?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 96

وَلَتَجِدَنَّهُمۡ أَحۡرَصَ ٱلنَّاسِ عَلَىٰ حَيَوٰةٖ وَمِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَشۡرَكُواْۚ يَوَدُّ أَحَدُهُمۡ لَوۡ يُعَمَّرُ أَلۡفَ سَنَةٖ وَمَا هُوَ بِمُزَحۡزِحِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ أَن يُعَمَّرَۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرُۢ بِمَا يَعۡمَلُونَ ٩٦

Allah censured them for being desperate to remain in this life in any condition, knowing that -even if it was the worst condition- it will still be better than what is waiting for them after death. Al-Biqai: 1/202.
Question: What is the reason for their clinging to this life in any condition?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 96

وَمَا هُوَ بِمُزَحۡزِحِهِۦ مِنَ ٱلۡعَذَابِ أَن يُعَمَّرَۗ وَٱللَّهُ بَصِيرُۢ بِمَا يَعۡمَلُونَ ٩٦

(It would not remove him in the least): It would not save him (From the [coming] Punishment): From Hellfire in the Hereafter. (That he should be granted life), means that his lengthy lifetime would not save him from punishment. Al-Baghawi: 1/79.
Question: Does longevity save a person from Allah's punishment?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 97

قُلۡ مَن كَانَ عَدُوّٗا لِّـجِبۡرِيلَ فَإِنَّهُۥ نَزَّلَهُۥ عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِكَ بِإِذۡنِ ٱللَّهِ

The heart is mentioned because it is the place of the intellect, knowledge and it is the device by which a person comprehends information. Al-Qurtubi: 2/262.
Question: In light of this verse, explain the importance of the heart.

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 98

فَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَدُوّٞ لِّلۡكَٰفِرِينَ ٩٨

Whoever takes an ally of Allah as an enemy, he has taken Allah as an enemy, and whoever treats Allah as an enemy, he shall be Allah's enemy. Whoever is an enemy of Allah, will be a loser in this life and the Hereafter. Ibn Kathir: 1/127.
Question: What is the risk in taking the allies of Allah as enemies?

Al-Baqarah Verses 0 - 101

وَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمۡ رَسُولٞ مِّنۡ عِندِ ٱللَّهِ مُصَدِّقٞ لِّمَا مَعَهُمۡ نَبَذَ فَرِيقٞ مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ كِتَٰبَ ٱللَّهِ وَرَآءَ ظُهُورِهِمۡ كَأَنَّهُمۡ لَا يَعۡلَمُونَ ١٠١

Sufyan bin Uyaynah said: They enclosed it [Torah] in silk and brocade and adorned it with gold and silver, but they did not adhere to its teachings; that is the meaning of throwing it behind their back. Al-Baghawi: 1/82.
Question: What is the meaning of true honoring and true rejection of the Book of Allah (The Holy Quran)?
