Al-Ma'idah Verses 0 - 46

What is mentioned here as a praise for Jesus and the Gospel does not include the Christians who denied the Prophethood of Muhammad (ﷺ), and altered the words of the Torah and the Gospel then followed the distorted Scriptures. Ibn Taimyah: 2/485.
Question: Are current Christians included in the praise for Jesus () and the Gospel?

Al-Ma'idah Verses 0 - 48

(And as a criterion over them), the Quran includes what the previous Scriptures contained, and additional divine instructions and promotion of good morals and attitudes. It is the Book which traces every truth that is mentioned in the previous Scriptures, enjoined it, and provides different approaches to it. It is the Book which contains news of the earlier and later generations. It is the Book which contains judgement and wisdom. Al-Saadi: 234.
Question: How is the Holy Quran a criterion over all previous Scriptures?

Al-Ma'idah Verses 0 - 48

This proves that hasting to perform duties in a timely manner is better than delaying them, which is unanimously agreed upon. Al-Qurtubi: 8/39.
Question: Which is better: hasting to perform duties in a timely manner or delaying them?

Al-Ma'idah Verses 0 - 48

This verse indicates that the individual should hasten to perform the prayer and other acts of worship at the start of their prescribed times, and that he should not limit himself only to that which makes the deed acceptable in the case of prayer and other obligatory acts of worship; rather he should strive to do whatever he is able to of the recommended acts of worship, so as to complete and perfect his deeds and attain the position of being ahead of others. Al-Saadi: 234.
Question: How can the servant be ahead of others in good deeds?

Al-Ma'idah Verses 0 - 49

Allah prohibited His Messenger (ﷺ) from following the desires of polytheists, Jews and Christians. Also, He cautioned him against being enticed by them away from the truth that Allah Has revealed to him. This includes the prohibition of following the desires of those who opposed the divine Sharia and his Sunnah, even from among the Muslim nation. Ibn Taimyah: 2/494.
Question: The verse contains important guidance for every person who holds a position of power. What is it?

Al-Ma'idah Verses 0 - 49

Meaning: Do not follow the ideas they promote, and because of which they turned away from what Allah revealed to His Messengers. This is why Allah says, (And do not follow their desires in disregard of the truth that has come to you), do not diverge from the truth that Allah has ordained for you, to the vain desires of these miserable and ignorant people. Ibn Kathir: 2/63.
Question: As claimed by these ignorant people, what is the substitute for the rule of Allah?

Al-Ma'idah Verses 0 - 49

Meaning: Beware of the Jews, your enemies, lest they distort the truth for you in what they convey to you. Therefore, do not be deceived by them, for they are liars, treacherous and disbelievers. Ibn Kathir: 2/64.
Question: Seeking advice from Jews and Christians may have dire consequences for Muslims. Explain in light of this verse.
