Engaging in falsehood is the opposite of speaking the truth, and amusement is the opposite of a beneficial endeavor. The former is the opposite of useful knowledge, and the latter is the opposite of righteous deeds. Hence, they did not speak the truth, nor did they do the right thing, and that is the way of those who turned away from what the Messenger brought - they have to do both of them. Ibn Al-Qayim: 3/201
Question: What are the signs of those who turned away from the Messenger?

After the description that includes intense warning, this Surah concludes with: (That is the Day which they had been promised), which affirms that their question at the beginning of this Surah, (A questioner asked for a punishment bound to happen) was made only for mocking and casting doubt. Hence, Allah makes clear to them what they will face in the Hereafter so that they take heed and return to their Lord. This links the conclusion of this Surah to its beginning. Al-Shanqiti: 8/305.
Question: What is the link between the beginning and conclusion of this Surah?

Allah does not say, "Warn the people", rather He says, (Warn your people) to encourage Noah (u) to strive for their salvation since his sons, relatives, and loved ones were among them. Ibn Ashur: 29/187.
Question: Allah does not say, "Warn the people", rather He says, (Warn your people). Why?

Noah (u) began inviting them by saying, (O my people) to attract their attention and make them more likely to accept what he was about to say, as he wished for them what he wished for himself. He emphasized his invitation to them by using, (indeed), as they were hesitant to believe him. Ibn Ashur: 29/188.
Question: Noah (u) began inviting them by saying, (O my people). Why?

He made the worship and fear to Allah, and made the obedience to the Messenger, as whoever obeys the Messenger has indeed obeyed Allah. Ibn Taimyah: 6/398.
Question: Noah (u) commanded them to worship and fear Allah while obeying him. Why?

Meaning: I invited them to believe so that You would forgive them. Forgiveness, which is a result of faith, is mentioned to show their abhorrent evasion of him; where they evaded what would lead them to their happiness. Ibn Juzay: 2/494.
Question: Allah mentions forgiveness, but does not mention its cause, which is faith. Why?

Noah (u) mentioned first that he invited them by night and day, then, he called them openly, then he combined between calling them openly and privately. That was the ultimate effort in providing his advice and conveying the Message, (u). Ibn Juzay: 2/495.
Question: The invitation by Noah (u) to his people was diverse. What does that indicate?
