It is known that some Messengers exceed others in aspects such as: The books revealed to them, miracles proving their truthfulness, their Sharias (knowledge and practice), and the nations to whom they were sent. Ibn Taimyah: 1/578-579.
Question: State few aspects in which some of the Messengers of Allah exceed others.
Aṭa' bin Dinar said, "Praise be to Allah who says: (And the disbelievers - they are the wrongdoers), and does not say that the wrongdoers are the disbelievers." Al-Qurtubi: 4/262.
Question: Explain how Ata' bin Dinar reflected on the meaning of this verse.
Allah Almighty rules out being overtaken by sleep since it is considered a deficiency while He is impeccable and free from all deficiencies and faults. Al-Baghawi: 1/269.
Question: Allah Almighty rules out being overtaken by sleep. Why?
This noble verse is the greatest, best and most sublime verse in the Quran due to the great matters and noble attributes it contains. For this reason, many Prophetic Hadiths have been narrated encouraging people to recite it and make it a part of their daily recitation, morning and evening, when they go to sleep and after the prescribed prayers. Al-Saadi: 110.
Question: Why is it recommended to recite Ayat Al-Kursi regularly at different times of day and night? Why is it the greatest verse in the Quran?
This verse asserts Allah's greatness, majesty and pride, glory be to Him, that no one dares to intercede for anyone with Him except by His permission. Ibn Kathir: 1/292.
Question: What does the requirement of Allah Almighty's permission for those who want to intercede indicate?
There is no need to compel anyone to believe in it. Compulsion can only be in matters that are ambiguous and unclear, for which there is no proof or evidence, or for matters to which people have a natural aversion. As for this true religion and straight path, it is very clear to those who possess reason, and is based on clear evidence. Truth stands out clear from error, so if one who is fortunate looks at it briefly, he will choose it, whereas the one who has ulterior motives, bad intentions, and evil inclinations will see the truth, yet will prefer falsehood to it; he will see what is beautiful but will choose what is ugly. Allah has no need to compel such a person to follow this religion because there is no benefit in doing so, since the faith of one who is forced to believe is invalid. Al-Saadi: 111.
Question: Why is there no need to compel anyone to accept Islam?
Since rejection of falsehood and belief in Allah is something that is uttered by the tongue and believed in the heart, it was best to mention the corresponding attributes of Allah: (All-Hearing) He Who hears what is uttered, (All-Knowing) He Who knows what is believed. Al-Qurtubi: 4/285.
Question: The verse concludes with Allah's Attributes: (All-Hearing) and (All-Knowing). Why?
