An-Naml Verses 0 - 47

قَالُواْ ٱطَّيَّرۡنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَۚ قَالَ طَٰٓئِرُكُمۡ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۖ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٞ تُفۡتَنُونَ ٤٧

(He said, "Your omen is from Allah), whatever befalls of good or bad is with Allah, and is decreed by Him, and when any fate is decreed by Allah, it happens very swiftly. Al-Baghawi: 3/407.
Question: Fate happens very swiftly. Why?

An-Naml Verses 0 - 47

قَالُواْ ٱطَّيَّرۡنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَۚ قَالَ طَٰٓئِرُكُمۡ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۖ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٞ تُفۡتَنُونَ ٤٧

A bad omen is harmful to one’s thinking and destructive to his plans. Whoever thinks that a lowing of a cow, or croaking of a raven prevents fate or ward off destiny, is ignorant. Al-Qurtubi: 16/181.
Question: Explain the risk of a bad omen to a person.

An-Naml Verses 0 - 47

قَالُواْ ٱطَّيَّرۡنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَۚ قَالَ طَٰٓئِرُكُمۡ عِندَ ٱللَّهِۖ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٞ تُفۡتَنُونَ ٤٧

(We consider you and those who are with you as a bad omen) - they claimed that they did not see any sign of good in Salih's face and that he and the believers with him had become a cause of some harm that befell their worldly interests. So, Salih said to them: (Your omen is from Allah), it only befell you because of your sins, (but you are a people who are being tested) with ease and hardship, good and bad, to see whether you will give up sin and repent, or not. Al-Saadi: 606.
Question: What are the reasons for accidents and afflictions that strike a person?

An-Naml Verses 0 - 50

وَمَكَرُواْ مَكۡرٗا وَمَكَرۡنَا مَكۡرٗا وَهُمۡ لَا يَشۡعُرُونَ ٥٠

Allah called their conspiracy a (plan), since it was a harmful ploy done in private. Ibn Ashur: 19/284.
Question: In this verse, the conspiracy is called a (plan), why?

An-Naml Verses 0 - 52

فَتِلۡكَ بُيُوتُهُمۡ خَاوِيَةَۢ بِمَا ظَلَمُوٓاْۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡلَمُونَ ٥٢

This verse proves that wrongdoing is a cause for ruining houses. Ibn Abbas said: "In the Book of Allah, I found that wrongdoing ruins the houses," then, he recited this verse. In the Torah: "O son of Adam, do not wrong others, lest your house would be ruined." It is said that this indicates the demise of the wrongdoer since the ruining of his house entails his own destruction. It is widely known that wrongdoing as transgressing and violating the rights of Allah's servants is a cause for ruining houses, as it is seen often at present times. Al-Alusi: 10/209.
Question: What are the worst consequences of wrongdoing?

An-Naml Verses 0 - 52

فَتِلۡكَ بُيُوتُهُمۡ خَاوِيَةَۢ بِمَا ظَلَمُوٓاْۚ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّقَوۡمٖ يَعۡلَمُونَ ٥٢

Their disbelief enticed them to commit many sins, such as spreading corruption, however, Allah singles out their wrongdoing, because of its effect in ruining their dwellings. Ibn Ashur: 19/285.
Question: Among the reasons for the punishment of Thamud, the verse mentions only their wrongdoing. Why?

An-Naml Verses 0 - 54

وَلُوطًا إِذۡ قَالَ لِقَوۡمِهِۦٓ أَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلۡفَٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمۡ تُبۡصِرُونَ ٥٤

Meaning: This repulsive deed that is abhorrent to sound minds and sound human nature, and it is regarded as abhorrent according to the teachings of all religions. Al-Saadi: 607.
Question: The crime of Lot's people is called immorality. Why?
